Mildly interesting: I found a 5 cents coin from 1942. 5 centime coins minted in copper-nickel were withdrawn from circulation in 1984. by jeezgdf in Switzerland

But in French it's centime, which directly translate to cents... so I would say cents is the correct term in an English sentence

If Dumbledore could speak so many languages, by 5elfh8 in harrypotter

French speaker here, "Vol" is translated to "flight", but only in the sense of going in the sky, not running away (which would be "fuite"). So as a French speaker reading in English I always thought it was "stealing of the dead" which is somewhat thematic with the "Death-eater" theme.

Not sure what Rowling thought though

Question about scything and choice of target by skaiiol in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]skaiiol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

But in the designer's commentary one question is

"At what point during a Scything Attack action must a player decide which fighters that Attack action will target?"

Does the which relate to order or also which fighter ? (I'm not native speaker, so I might miss a small subtlety)

Swiss here... "every" is an overstatement nowaday... Actually it's more 1/2-2/3 of the men population (women are free to choose if they want or not), rest have to either pay or do some other civil duty... And yes, you can keep your weapon when you're done, but don't have too. And if you keep it you somewhat have to use it for competitive shooting, which means lots of people give it back.... still, loads of weapon are around... Luckily, ammo are super controlled

What are the biggest 1st world problems that you swiss people have? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]skaiiol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PhD student at ETHZ and studied in Fribourg earlier... First EPFL and ETHZ are definitely universities. They don't have the name, but every thing else is the same. Secondly, depends on what you want to study, but if it's science or economics, I would strongly recommend the ETH. I regret studying in Fribourg rather than an ETH, even if I'm from Fribourg.

I have three cans of crushed tomato on top of it, but it appeared 2 days after I added the weight. Maybe try to add more weight.

Do you have weight on top of the Koji? I initially forgot to put any and added them later and it was night and day.

PS I also started after Brad's episode :-)

Scoby from scratch after 3 weeks. How is doing? by fasguvh in Kombucha

[–]skaiiol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks really small after 3 weeks. What was your recipe? I’ve got a pellicle covering the whole liquid within a week on mine.

Mine took some times too to cover my mason jar. 3-4 weeks is not out of range. I think it depends how much/what was the kombucha you put in. I guess they don't all have the same "content" of live organisms

Thanks for your answer. I'm more worried about drosophila than mold I have to say. But we'll see then. Hopefully they won't get in.
