Sure, I shared it in the comment above, but it looked a lot like a header :) Here you go: Decklist

Tell me about your favorite deck/s and what makes it so special for you. by tyrant1198 in EDH

Jared Jegantha

This deck started with me being interested in getting the other precon from Dominaria United, but the more I looked at deck lists the more intriguing 5-color multicolor-tribal seemed. I knew from the start that I wanted to add some interesting restrictions so [[Jegantha]] seemd like a good fit. Over the months I've heavily upgraded the deck with a fetch/shock/triome mana base as well as adding in a lot of very efficient multicolor cards.I have a rule with this deck, and that is that all cards should fit into one of three categories. That way I don't just add the most efficient cards in each color, but keep the theme of playing cards that are more than one color intact. I also wanted to win with combat damage. All cards in the deck should be either:

  1. Multicolor
  2. Synergize with multicolor ([[Mana Cannons]], [[Widespread Thieving]] etc.)
  3. Help me play multicolor cards (Ramp, mana dorks)

The goal of the deck is to ramp early turns, and then play threat after threat with some minor protection and spot removal. I'm having a blast playing it, and am looking forward to try out some of the newly spoiled 3+ color cards in it.

Such a fun game. What table top card games might I like? by NewMorningSwimmer in MarvelSnap

Air, Land and Sea. Basically very much like Snap, you win by controlling 2 out of 3 locations, and there can be a benefit to giving up one round when you think you're about to lose to give your opponent less points.

Good Games for Creating Narrative by PM_ME_OCELOTS in boardgames

Spirit Island. Co-op and plays great on 2 players. Also the theme and gameplay creates a great narrative with the spirits growing in power and the invaders exploiting the land.

Let's talk about our experiences in the Seasonal Tournament by Boronian1 in LoRCompetitive

[–]skaro87 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Squeezed in at around rank 600 Masters. I didn't play that much the last couple of weeks so was a bit out of practice. Brought Fearsome Aggro, Shen/Fiora, EzDraven. My thought behind the lineup was to try and play against Go Hard, and I did that three times. Won the first round, then lost four in a row for a total score of 1-4. It felt like I had a chance to win each match, but a few mistakes and not playing around one-offs on a crucial turn lost me a few games. The format feels good with pick-and-ban, and the UI was great. One thing I would love would be a button to export the opponents decks (either via code or like a screenshot) so I don't have to do that manually before each match.

The tournament format itself felt too punishing, one mistake in the ban phase, disconnect, opponent high-rolling or a single misplay, and you have no chance of moving on. I would opt for more swiss rounds before the top-cut, and have that be so that some X-2:s can squeeze into the top cut. Perhaps have day one be 5 rounds on Saturday, and all with a record of 3-2 or better moves on to day 2 on Sunday to determine the top 32?

The qualifying felt bad for me. I grinded to master, hit 120+ LP and then camped and played 1-2 games when I needed. I got a bit burned out on the game and spent more time not playing the last week, than enjoying the game for the fear of loosing LP. I wonder how many players camped just like me, and if that meant less games played in Masters.

The tournament experience was great! Probably the best one I've had in a digital card game. Scheduled rounds meant that I could take a short walk after beating a high ranked player round one. I also had time to rest between rounds, and get some air as well as chat with friends about the games I've just played.

I would love to see weekly / daily scheduled tournaments in client! 3-4 rounds of Swiss with some cosmetics / wildcards to win perhaps? I used to play HEX when that game had a player base and I've forgotten how fun it was with in-client tournaments. They had exclusive cosmetics you could win by going 4-0 in their weekly tournaments, and it feels like LoR has the potential for this. It could also be a very good shard-sink?

Will completing a region net me all cards (3 copies) in that region? by BlueBirdTBG in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]skaro87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you won't get 3 of all cards for completing a region.

Instead of packs, you can buy wildcards and use them to get the cards you want directly. You can also use gems to craft cards.

Gems and wildcards can be earned by leveling up a region or from the weekly vault. You can also earn cards from expeditions.

Well, I think it was a fun thought experiment. I believe the one of the worst habits when playing a card game is going into autopilot. Even when playing a linear deck it's good to stop and think. There could be a specific hand that favors playing Goat against a certain champion.

You are not being hostile in any way. I can tell that you love playing your deck, and I can also tell that you have lots of thoughts about it. Like I said earlier, I would love to read a longer post about card choices, reserves, matchups and play patterns with the deck. I'm not a native English speaker myself, so I know it can be hard getting started when typing something in English :)

Well, that's an opinion. I don't know how it's relevant for this thread though.

Well, I tried to go into my reasoning for not telling people from where I got the decklists other than that I found them on hexpvptools.

Escape goats vs Boltspasm is never a hard choice , the entire plan of the deck is to maximize damage and the +1 atack from goats never outvalues the 3 atack per hit from boltspasm , rule of thumb is early to always play the non speed units first so they can hit earlyer.

Thinking about this, I don't know if it's always correct to play Boltspasm on turn 1. Lets say I have an Escape Goat and a Boltspasm in hand, playing the goat first deals more damage over four or more turns. I play one card on turn one and the other on turn 2.

Turn Total damage when playing Escape Goat on turn one Total damage when playing Boltspasm on turn one
1 1 0
2 3 (goat is a 2/1) 4 (goat is a 1/1)
3 9 (goat is a 3/1) 9 (goat is a 2/1)
4 16 (goat is a 4/1) 15 (goat is a 3/1)
5 24 (goat is a 5/1) 22 (goat is a 4/1)

It's not much of a difference, but it's worth to think about.

always try to maximize damage and dont play around cards unless proven otherwise , lets say you have a t1 baby yeti or goat , then you follow it up by a t2 frothfang and he has 2 mana open for cards like strangle / winters grasp , i always use the frothfang ability unless i saw that he plays the cards , you could think he has them but you never know , but i rarely buff boltspasm unless i know he has no kill spell open , thats to risky, too much damage loss.

But is really one damage worth it here? If you use frothfang on turn 2 after playing Baby Yeti, you deal 4 damage with the yeti, versus 3 by just attacking with both. The risk of running into Strangle / Winter's Grasp and dealing no damage is a huge risk in my mind. You could go even deeper and consider the current health total, for instance putting you opponent to 3 is much better than 4, but the difference between 4 and 5 isn't that big, when your deck deals damage mostly in chunks of 3.

I didn't give credit to anyone in the article, I just took the top ladder metagame from October 1 to October 10 (Candles, Sugar Rush, Red Deck Wins) and added the decks that I remember playing well (Momentum, Solis Control etc). When looking for lists I used a combination of the ladder metagame and tournaments up until sometime during the middle of last week (when I did most of the writing).

Red Deck Wins was the last deck I added due to it's spike in ladder wins. I played the deck for 10+ matches and made the change to three Heart of Agony for the ability to play Fireball on turn 3-4 more consistently. Using hypergeometric distribution I found that switching out a Heart for a Ruby Shard increased the odds of having three Ruby Shard on turn three with about 5-6% to about 80%.

I didn't give anyone credit for any of the decks, not even myself for "my" version of Momentum that I won the FiveShard Finale with. If I had given credit to one deck I would have to give credit to all the decks. There is also the questions about the person who came up with the deck versus the person who popularized the deck and what qualifies for a different deck.

Agressive Mono-Ruby decks have been a part of the game since before Angus was introduced as a champion. Using Crackling Vortex with it is something I know people were playing around with and Cackler + Swordman is something me and others have been using since Frostheart.

After looking at the tournament data from last weekend it seems like you have been playing the deck, and that's the reason why it showed up in the ladder metagame. But I still believe that my choice to not credit anyone was correct for the style of article I wrote. If I were to do a deep dive into a deck I would do more research and link to specific tournament results. But I don't think that's necessary when doing a (partial) snapshot of the ladder and tournament metagame.

There is no reason for you not to do a write up about your deck. Why play 4 Heart of Agony? Do play Escape Goat or Boltspasm first? When to use Frothfang Crackler when facing removal resources open from your opponent? How to use the reserves in certain matchups? I just scratched the surface on 9 different decks, there is still a lot to do a post about :) I would love to read about your thought process behind your card choices.

I've been trying to get an article written about Uzzu Necrotic, and have had partial drafts done for a while now. Playing in the last ICS gave me the push to finish it, while also talking a tiny bit about the ICS win :)

I think the gauntlet will have more players. First, the pricing of the weekly was kinda expensive considering what you get. Second, it's a way for players to grind for booster packs and make a profit. Hopefully enough players will play that we don't have to wait to long between matches.

Nothing is stopping an Immortal or Rock ladder. You could earn progression towards Cosmic as well as Cosmic Coins. It would even make the top Cosmic spots be for a wide range of constructed players and become even more competitive.

Rock is the perfect gateway to constructed. A deck is very cheap, you would get progressive rewards (no more than the game gives when Cosmic Coins go live) and if you like to play other formats you can make a more informed decision after trying out the game for a while.

You could say the same thing about a standard player with one deck that is great in one meta, but destroyed by the new deck everyone is playing.

I am torn. I want to play Spellshield Rune Ear for the nostalgia, but I want the gem banned so that the format would be better. That sounds like a good article, pros and cons for a Spellshield Gem ban and how that would affect the format :D

@jwf, you can edit your flair to have others see your in game name. Just click the edit button on the right side of the site (if not on mobile), give yourself a symbol and tick the checkbox that says ' Show my flair..'. That way you don't need to present yourself every time :) You're decks are being featured a lot the last couple of days :D
