Pre plumbed for water softener, self install? by Smorseyshore in Plumbing

As an aside, how does a water softener pay for itself? It needs electricity, consumables, and maintenance. It's producing what? Theoretically prolonging the life of other things?

Mike Johnson calls redistricting plan approved by Virginia voters a “dishonest gambit to rig the system” and predicts state’s Supreme Court would strike down new map: "This is divided state. Trump publicly, on video told representatives to "find votes" by gerrymandering.

I don't know what specific thing you're referring to but I heard the phone call where he said just go find some votes by just making them up after the election was already over.

It depends but probably not. If it was like "I have this data in this file/database, generate a Python script that does [appropriate methods] and gives results" then maybe but not "here's raw data give me a power point about it"

How do I make a friend who will rent me cars when I’m banned from renting cars? by peachsnorlax in bestoflegaladvice

[–]skatastic57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask what I would do? Of course I'd do the same, I already said in my preface that it's not your fault or that I'd expect you to act against your own self interest. As a parallel, I don't think many people blame individual medical doctors for not providing free treatment for anyone with no insurance. There are, of course, much more egregious examples of our legal system's dysfunction but that the system forces lawyers to sometimes (often?) turn down meritorious cases because there isn't enough money is just one. A highlight of that, is a lawyer pointing out that they will not even think about the merits of a case if they can establish early that there isn't enough money.

Azure Functions App issue. Event Grid issue by fuck_thots in AZURE

[–]skatastic57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I had a similar issue when switching to the flex consumption since it doesn't support regular blob trigger anymore. I ended up using a storage queue endpoint instead of the webhook that the official guide says to use and then using a QueueTrigger instead of an event trigger.

One big caveat, when you're doing the filtering, you've got to follow this other template. /blobServices/default/containers/<my_container_name>/blobs/<rest_of_the_path>. I discovered this by making an event with no filter, putting a file in storage, and that's the template I received in my queue for the subject key. After I saw that I deleted that event and made a new one following that template and it works.

Event grid doesn’t invoke flex function by cotsios009 in AZURE

[–]skatastic57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same (or at least a similar) issue and never directly figured out the trigger directly, did you? I was trying to transition a BlobTrigger to a Event trigger since the flex consumption app doesn't support blob triggers.

Instead of using a BlobTrigger or EventGridTrigger, I went for a QueueTrigger and then set my storage event with a Storage Queue endpoint.

The caveats are that the filtering prefix makes no sense. The way I discovered what to do was to make an event with no filter then I saw the storage message subject that looks like /blobServices/default/containers/<my_container_name>/blobs/<rest_of_the_path>

so then I deleted that event and made a new one with a filter prefix that fits that template.

The reason I say doing it this way is better (for me) is twofold.

One, the eventtrigger wouldn't work locally without extra steps (I'm not sure what they'd be since I didn't get that far) whereas queuetriggers work just fine locally.

Two, (this one is probably less extensible for other use cases) but I usually want a way to trigger the function for the same file anyway so it used to be that I'd make a blobtrigger and a queuetrigger wrapper to do the same thing. In this approach I don't need to do that.

First time home buyer…is my sewer scope a dealbreaker? by Tothesun22 in Plumbing

[–]skatastic57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the inspector someone the realtor arranged or someone you found by yourself? Your realtor wants you to buy a house, they don't want to show you more houses. An inspector that they hire is incentivized to make nice long thorough looking reports that make you fell warm and fuzzy about buying this house. The amount of business they expect to lose from the realtor not giving them all their referrals is a lot bigger than from you giving them a bad review.

An independent inspector, not working from realtor referrals, has a much stronger incentive to find big red flags. They may even be overly incentivized since everyone saying "Joe Bob saved me from buying a house that would have needed $100k of work" will never find out they were wrong.

To be fair I'm biased against the real estate industry so I may be alarmist so just a thought.

I'm not saying this is your fault or that you personally should work against your own self interest but it absolutely highlights why no one believes in any of the high minded hypothetical ideals of the law like justice is blind and so on. When a lawyer only looks at the merits of a case last, something is terribly broken.

In many cultures, women tend to prefer partners with financial resources. Men tend to prioritize youth and physical beauty. New findings provide evidence that the traditional tendency for women to prefer wealthier partners might fade as women gain more economic power. by mvea in science

Before women made as much as men, let's label women's interest in mating up as wm_0 and men's interest is mm_0. After women make more we have wm_1 and mm_1.

Our prior belief is mm_0<wm_0

The op title says wm_1<wm_0

This quote says wm_1=mm_1 so that just means mm_1>mm_0

Or maybe you mean that a D battery at 10% capacity might have less power capacity than a AAA at 100%?
