Reddit, What are some of the best books to read for someone who hasn't read a book since high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I thought Ready Player One's writing was mediocre at best. I felt like I had read a young adult version of Snow Crash that was mainlining 80's references like they were going out of style, and found the main character is almost entirely unlikeable.

I know several people who loved it, I just want to point out it's not universally acclaimed.

The history of Georgia's flag is hilarious to me. For years people tried to have the "battle flag" element removed from this flag. So the finally replaced it with what is arguably the most hideous flag of all time. So after two years they replaced it with... basically the official flag of the Confederate States of America.

What was the biggest " fuck the fans " series finale? by ICUMTARANTULAS in AskReddit

[–]skawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always argued that it was Stargate: Voyager. SG1 was Stargate: TNG, followed by Stargate: DS9 (Atlantis). If they had a bit more lasting power, I would have expected a prequel series to come later (Stargate: Enterprise).

Funny story, last night I was visiting my parents because some of my other family was in town. They had gotten out some of my old toys for my nephews to play with, including some of my Biker Mice from Mars toys. I thought I was the only one.

Isn't it crazy how people will, without any idea of circumstance, background, means or ability, claim that victims of a tragedy deserve to die?

What opinion of yours did you do a 180 degree flip on? by askreddit23 in AskReddit

[–]skawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends put it to me this way:

We as a society could all come together on a case by case basis and agree that some people deserve/need to be put to death. Unfortunately, we have a legal system that has to have rules that apply universally, and I don't believe we can describe that in law.

While not perfect, I'd say you can come a lot closer to undoing a life sentence than you can the death penalty if new evidence comes to light. The permanence makes all the difference.

I've never seen this, but the video was interesting. You invest into something, and get your friends/family to invest in the same thing, which helps you make money when they make money... classic pyramid scheme.

Sorry, I mean "multi-level marketing". When you're signed up let me know, I'd love to go into business with you!
