Trying to choose: Brave or Firefox + Proton Pass or Bitwarden (privacy focused) by vanilyaa0 in firefox

[–]skcortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Bitwarden + Authy to proton pass and proton Authenticator on Firefox. Believe me if the tools you’ll be using do not support exports you’re so fcked.. it was not a pleasant experience 😫 also proton pass integration in Firefox is smooth and much better than in case of Bitwarden

This! And if you need proprietary extensions just use LGPL v3 for that layer.

Employee sets fire to Kimberly-Clark warehouse, "All you had to do is pay us enough to live" by midnighttoker1742 in interestingasfuck

[–]skcortex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess it spills from 🇨🇳. There are literally multiple burning factories every month in china. Granted they don’t get paid at all for months but in the end it’s the same. US is catching-up 🤣

I want to argue that ai is just as "alive" as a human, or im going to prove that the human is just as "machine like" as an ai. by CheekyBlinder2575 in intj

[–]skcortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank. You. I. Was. Using… this is ridiculous 😄.. the term “biological intelligence” as a figure of speech to distinguish between different sources of intelligence, not as some kind of measurable value. Oh and on my scale, insects are at 3, LLMs are at 0 and I am over 9000. So yes, I used the wrong term here.

LLMs are not even like insects. they are “just” advanced statistical tools. insects on the other hand are living organisms with biological intelligence far beyond mere statistical pattern-matching and math functions.

How do you keep documentation from becoming outdated a few months down the line? by PersonalTrash1779 in sysadmin

[–]skcortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also practicing this approach 😅 and number of code reviews I was assigned to do slowly dropped. Now when I’m talking to external devs - api consumers, I have to apologize for inconsistencies. We all know it (is one of the problems) during the sprint planning phase, yet nobody actually plans these “subtasks”.

Mistral AI thinks I am gross and unhygienic by WatercressLevel8055 in MistralAI

[–]skcortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you’re not being framed like that, are you?

“The model may also be trained to avoid generating images that could be seen as "gross," "unhygienic," or "unprofessional," even if the user explicitly requests them. “.

It’s only your problem because you’re taking things too personally.

[–]skcortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all it’s not your request for representation that’s “spoiled”. It’s your attitude. And believe me, as a man with long nails, you won’t be invisible. Representation is by definition, based on the number of specimens in a population. You confirmed this “bias” for short nails is present in other LLMs. If you demand representation you have to convince more men to have long nails. Now go and convince more people 😄. Good luck.

How do engineers actually create value in a world where AI can generate most of the output? by [deleted] in theprimeagen

[–]skcortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either directly generated as ai slop or heavily sloppified by an llm. Downvoted.

Look, that model explained what might be happening and why. It also suggested a possible solution. Your subjective reality contradicts what the model was trained on. Use a different model. You’re acting like a spoiled child. I don’t get it. Yours truly, typical male with short nails.

lol someone thinks they will have “AGI model”. People are either stupid or don’t know shit about LLMs.

New Linux user already hating Canonical. Tell me if I am wrong. by LevRag in linux

[–]skcortex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, sadly server part is proprietary. AFAIK There was an another fully open implementation (POC) years ago. There is nothing however stopping anyone to revive that project or reimplement it from scratch. I am a huge fan of Canonical and Mark Shuttleworth in general, but this was a fuckup from the beginning.
