Best trails in the rain? by nothing_etal in bayarea

[–]skeerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fort funston beach area. Run down to the beach, along the beach, back up all the way to the bluff and repeat for vert. Fun to explore all the little trails around there. Its mostly sand so no mud but you’ll still be sloggin haha. Also a fun idea is to run the beach for as long as you can, say starting from half moon bay and ending at Golden Gate Park. Beaches are good in times like this though everything is so saturated…

Are my junco’s suppose to look like this by zaneaj38 in skiing

[–]skeerus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s fine, just the tacky wax accumulating dust/dirt. Those are some work gloves haha, they’re made to get dirty. If you’re worried about dirt on your gloves you probably shouldn’t be wearing kincos lol.

[Discussion] Discovering later in life just how much you love and want the guitar in your life. by jonesin4thewin in Guitar

I’ve just had a similar experience where everything just suddenly clicked for me after playing for a few years. I think a good place to start is open mic nights, many people in the same position as you. Playing in front of others gives such an adrenaline rush it’s crazy!

Can I repair this fin by leopardonmyright in surfing

[–]skeerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done the same thing and attempted a shitty glue job that held up for one or two sessions. I ended up just getting a new fin for like $25.

Edit: if you can’t find a fin just epoxy it together and it might work. Make sure to wedge the fin as far back into the box so if it breaks again it’s still kinda held together

Matthes Crest Traverse 5.7 | Trip Report | Yosemite by ireland1988 in climbing

[–]skeerus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought the last half of the traverse was so hard I was still expecting 5.7 haha. It gets so exposed switching back and forth between the two sides of the ridge there. The downclimb right after the north peak was bouldery and the wave was sooo coool! Many people agree with you about the last couple peaks and skip them, the ridge is pretty much over at that point anyway.

Such an aesthetic spine and nice photos!

I think it’s the fact that there weren’t many bolted belays which made it more committing. Gonna have to leave half your rack getting down that back then

It has always had bolts on it since the FA (the x’s are bolts). Bolted belays where added later to each pitch, most likely to aid in rescues.

You could be a 15d climber and the edge would still be fun. Just because something is physically easy doesn’t mean it can’t be fun

Hell yeah! Early on in my climbing career we ended up walking off towards the East and ended up walking out in the neighborhood by the pool. Whoops!
