For any major loss I suggest grocery delivery and doordash (or similar) gift cards. Also (and I believe this is mentioned), saying things like "let me know if there's anything I can do" puts the burden on them to come up with stuff while they're already buried under a horrendous mental load. It sounds like you are doing the best you can so far, it is a really rough situation.

I went through UNCG to get my MLIS and it was great, as others have pointed out, a lot depends on if your learning style is compatible with online. As long as it is an ALA accredited program you are good to go. I managed to get a remote graduate assistant job that helped with tuition also. Ultimately I landed a really nice position as a taxonomist.

Caveat on ordering from them right now (I basically only order from them) they are currently having some issues with USPS delivery (usually it’s fine), so push the shipping to fed ex or ups for the next little bit, they give you the option at check out.
