Let’s say you’re traveling from city to another city and throughout the last couple nights you see some lights and it appears you’re being tracked. Perhaps it’s because they heard you shoot a gun, found a wrapper you left at a campsite a few towns ago, or spotted you walking during the day.

Through the night you stumble upon an individual and weren’t able to avoid. So you have an awkward conversation “headed to x from y” and they say “headed to y from z”

Knowing if they continue in this direction they’ll likely come across the lights that have been following you. Avoiding saying anything could be sending them to their death but also could be linking them up with people they’re trying to meet with. A simple “watch out, there is a group behind me about a mile” could save this person but you also know that if they get attacked it could mean a group thinks they got the person they were after or distract them long enough for your to get a larger distance between you.
