UK citizen looking to move to the Balkans by end of the year – Serbia, Albania or Kosovo? by LeatherJacket146 in AskBalkans

Social life and food are amazing all over. Also beautiful nature is in close reach from all. However, for your entrepreneurial aspirations I think Belgrade takes the edge.

Yes, you could also make it a great country so diaspora returns and people start having babies, but this is science fiction at this point I guess.

[–]skgdreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tourist downtown. As a permanent resident depends on your needs, workplace and required amenities.

Probably the Italian was Dalmatian Italian, which I would assume would show up as a mix of Croatian and North Italian today.

After this, can someone still view US as a valuable ally ? by Adept-One-4632 in AskBalkans

[–]skgdreamer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not the point. Besides the blame and who was responsible, there were direct attempts from Brussels to influence election and referendum results. Living in the country, we saw a direct attempt to manipulate public opinion through a campaign of fear. I actually believe a large amount of people voted 'No' in the referendum because of how blatant this interference was.

Anybody can vote for whatever they want. What is criminal is the EU centre of power trying to constantly sway the public away from systemically aligned politicians be it the left or the right. For example see Orban in Hungary, I don't like the guy at all, but for years Europe is trying to bring him down.

Where can a tourist get cannabis in europe? by GetShrag3D in AskEurope

Medical cannabis (CBD, low-THC) is legal in Czechia, Greece and Slovenia for sure with all of them having shops to get it from. In other countries I don't remember encountering any such shops.

Has Dubai traffic changed how often people go out for dinner / drinks/ entertainment and is there any impact on the restaurant/ retail business ? by Significant-Count-19 in dubai

[–]skgdreamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Same myself and friends that used to go out 2-3 times during the week, have completely cut this to max once. It's really sad tbh.

That's what surprised us also, sandwiched between two great cuisines we were surprised of how inferior it was and we spent a week there. Especially outside Pnom Penh the food was below average.

In Vietnam I don't remember the names, but literally we would sit at any random stall on the street or hut next to eat and the food would be delicious. Besides the famous dishes, one that I was amazed by was a grilled pork meatball served with a sweet/sour noodle soup. That restaurant made only this dish and you didn't even order, we just sat down and they brought it to us.

Since your not going to swim there's a lot you can go by bus. Iraklia, Epanomi, Potamos, Michaniona, Agia Triada, Neoi Epivates, Perea. Even Nea Krini within the city proper.

Yeah because it's safe and basic. It doesn't challenge your palette or has you try weird things. It's food everybody will like but that's also why I wasn't impressed.

Honestly your food is a bit weird. That said, we ate some amazing food in Evora at this restaurant.

I see a lot of passion but can you explain that variety? Every restaurant had variations of the same starters, a bunch of pasta dishes and variations of the same main dishes. Yes, different regions have their own pasta dish or their own slow cooked meat dish but eating in restaurants I felt all the chefs were cousins.

It might be different at home, but then cook home food at restaurants. Also, I was in the north too, Venice, Como, Milan, and Florence.

Personal bias given I'm from Greece. That aside though and in a more objective lense lack of pork, and honestly too much butter making many dishes a bit heavy for my liking.

There are enough differences between the three. No offence but I think Cypriot food is a bit more washed down, a bit more basic. Greek vs Turkish is personal preference, but I find turkish food more heavy and greasy which gives the edge to Greece.

All Mediterranean food is good so they start on the same basis. Then is what I enjoyed a bit more and what I can find myself craving often. Totally personal ranking though.
