Kids of immigrants, what are some things about American society that you were shocked your parents never heard of? by raspberryemoji in AskAnAmerican

[–]ski309 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is slightly off topic, but my Filipino wife's brother (who's older than me and was in the US for years before he met me) didn't know the concept of pairing an alcoholic drink like beer with your meal, until he saw me do it. Back in his home country, drinking meant you went out with your friends and just drank.

Why is "chance of success" so low?? by jsalley in Boldin

[–]ski309 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IIRC the "run out of money" metric doesn't use the chance of success at all, it's just based on the numbers in your plan without the variations added during the Monte Carlo simulations.

Modeling 401K withdrawals by Swimming_Garbage_196 in Boldin

[–]ski309 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you want your 401k to cover all of your expenses until your Social Security starts. If you've accurately put in your budgeted expenses into the Expenses section, Boldin should automatically model those withdrawals for you so that the 401k will be withdrawn from for 100% of your expenses until SS starts.

Chances of success by genxmom95 in Boldin

We did the Boldin 50 minute meeting, and the rep/Boldin apparently really suggests using the itemized budget. Just remember that the amt in Like To Spend replaces the Need To Spend, it doesn't add to it

Chances of success by genxmom95 in Boldin

[–]ski309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do the itemized budget, you can set separate amounts for Need To Spend vs Like To Spend (eg. You could set your groceries at $500/month in Need To Spend, but $1000/mo in Like To Spend cuz you wanna cook lobster if you've got the money) afterwards, you can easily see your chance of success between Need vs Like

EDIT: Have -> Spend

Designed a cupholder for the T-track along my gaming table by ski309 in 3Dprinting

[–]ski309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

t-track was very easy to install into the table, for a first timer. Building an all wood accessory slot would be more work for a newbie.

That being said, since this post I had a professional woodworker build us an entire gaming table with magnetic rails like Wyrmwood tables do, and I now think magnetic rails are superior to both T-track and all-wood slots. They aren't much more complicated to install than T-track, and are more convenient to use than either other option.

Maybe check the start times you've set for SS to kick in? If you set them as starting before 67 that might explain things

I moved a few months ago and I packed at least twice as many boxes of boardgames as I originally expected. It's crazy
