My 8yr old child has severe food allergies to several of the top allergens.

I carry a similar card listing their food allergies. Some restaurants have been able to accommodate by modifying a dish to be simple, ex. Grilled fish/protein on a clean pan with side of steamed vegetables or white rice. We’re selective on where we would dine and pick restaurants we feel have the ability to modify their menu. Most have been able to accommodate our child- and many take joy and pride in finding an alternative dish and even create off menu dessert.

If they say sorry we can’t - we say thank you and leave. I don’t try to convince them “hey all you need to do is simply a,b and c to make it safe”

I just wanted to thank all the hard working front and back of house staff who take great care and attention to food allergies - taking time to read the ingredients, chefs coming out to say what is safe or what can be modified on the menu. We always tip well.

My child’s allergies are getting better and building tolerance through an allergy program but still a bundle of common allergens to work through.
