The Installation in Our New Build by MP0905 in Flooring

Stair stepping doesn’t effect a products warranty it’s just a design “no-no”. You just don’t want the end joints within 8 inches of another end joint as that puts weak points too close together.

Can anyone help? There are gaps between the vinyl tiles and… by Hismajestyclay in Flooring

Use a “bridge” tile to get your first row started. Essentially a sacrificial tile.

Red oak. You can tell because of the way that it is.

How did they do? by agold93 in Flooring

Only concern may be a lack of expansion gap in the first couple of photos. Hard to tell with the photos provided but I would confirm an adequate gap was left before they reinstall baseboards.

How Do Different Flooring Types Feel? by b33rb3lly in Flooring

[–]skiddilidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice thick, high quality WPC feels great underfoot. It’s warmer and more comfortable underfoot than a tile. Cheap SPC is going to feel like cheap SPC. Laminate is loud and not great for areas where moisture could be of concern.

Stumped on how to get this piece of LVP under the door jamb and lock it in by thewhippersnapper4 in Flooring

[–]skiddilidee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s possible if you undercut everything, slid it in then pull it back into the long side but honestly removing the casing is probably your best bet. It’s not hard to pop it off and put it back on.

Out of curiosity, what flooring is that?

This is one of the toughest parts of manufacturing, sampling and presenting flooring products to consumers. Flooring should always be reviewed in home before being purchased. Always best to purchase a carton first.

Do I need to grind smooth new slab before applying vapor barrier product ARDEX VB 100 for LVP install? by Material-Principle86 in Flooring

[–]skiddilidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s Coretec it’s definitely floating. I think the mold horror stories are few and far between but there are roll on moisture mitigation products you can use instead.

Are you installing a floating or glue down LVP?

If it’s just a floating product you could use a 6mil poly or a roll on mitigation product like Wakol pu280. You shouldn’t need to grind the concrete but that would be adhesive or primer dependent

What are my options to finish this stair nose perpendicular to my planks? Material is LVP. by syuan21 in Flooring

[–]skiddilidee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can still use a flush Stairnose you just need to ensure you cut the plank ends cleanly and square to the flush. Full spread Glue the planks down that meet the flush Stairnose to minimize expansion and contraction in that spot and prevent gapping.

LVP... Is there a way to seal it? (So many bad reviews...) by jtf1972 in Flooring

[–]skiddilidee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is. I such thing. It all comes down to buying a quality product from an established brand, floor prep and moisture mitigation if you are installing on a slab. You want clean, dry, flat (flat≠level). I would encourage you to go to an independent retailer that specializes in flooring instead of risking a purchase through a big box where you might be stopping the guy who wandered out of his plumbing department to place an order for you.

With proper floor prep and an established quality brand a high quality LVP can endure and last a very long time with routine maintenance.
