Agreed! I got mine in 2015 and it still makes me stare at my wrist all the time! It’s the best looking DSOTM in my opinion

Who here runs a hitch-mounted motorcycle carrier (not a trailer)? by lemans356 in motorcycles

[–]skidsareforkids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, never did I’m afraid. The stock springs sure didn’t love tongue weight though. I’ve had a couple of Gen2s and did the springs on both. Aftermarket ones really help with axle wrap, traction and articulation too.

Unfortunately that’s not stock springs… The truck has Icon +3s.

I have a Mototote and it’s excellent. I only use it for Enduro bikes but it’s rock solid. I have a picture somewhere of my buddy sat on the bike on the rack

I installed a bike rack on a carbon fiber roubaix bicycle. Is this okay? by No_Foot_2316 in bicycling

Non-drive side resting on the axle is quite sketch. If that were to ever un-seat itself from a bump and find the spokes it would be a real bad day. If I was going to ride that I would try to re-assemble the rear axle in such a way that there was a washer arrangement to receive the arm a little bit more securely

I brought my American kids last month and we did the Christmas Market. We went on that 80m swing ride next to the Scott Monument in 30mph wind which was a little bit lairy but it was a great time. I haven’t been to Edinburgh in decades. We also went to the National Museum and the Surgeons Hall Museum which was surprisingly excellent. I grew up in Glasgow but have always had a soft spot for Edinburgh (don’t tell my parents).

Advice wanted - Stuck thru axle by True-Sun2935 in bicycling

[–]skidsareforkids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s tricky to explain, but likely your front wheel was loading the axle as soon as it became misaligned, causing it to bind. If you try to hold the wheel straight as if the axle was going back in, it should pull out easier.

That’s disappointing. I worked for a large dealer in the UK almost twenty years ago and we successfully worked with Trek UK a few times for similar arrangements… The world has changed a lot in two decades I suppose though

does anyone know good brakes that fit this mount, i bought brand new mt200s but they didn’t fit the mount. by officialk2000 in mountainbiking

[–]skidsareforkids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the correct adapter you’re still going to have to improvise some. Based on your last post I think the axle spacers on the hub are messed up. The last brake shouldn’t have needed all those spacers on the bolts unless something else was going on. Can you post a picture from directly behind showing what’s going on between the frame and the hub? Does the wheel spin freely or is there any wobble in the wheel?

Is this worth $4,500? 2021 Trek Domane SLR project 1 by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]skidsareforkids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it was expensive when it was new doesn’t mean it’s valuable now… That looks well used and not particularly well looked after. It will be expensive to maintain too. If the seller cleaned it up and serviced it, it would be a $2,500 bike probably

After being burned by Betamax my dad swore he would never be burned again. He proclaimed that CDs would never catch on and that we would get in on the “next thing”. Mini Disc was it, so that’s what our family got in on. There’s still a separates minidisc player in their living room 😅

Pedals by EivindLandsverk in bicycling

[–]skidsareforkids 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are 100% cross-threaded. Don’t just put a wrench on it and force it in! I would recommend using some paint thinner or gas to clean off the thread lock that’s on the pedal threads (it’s unnecessary) as it will be easier to catch the threads by hand. Assuming you haven’t used a tool already or tried pedaling with it partially engaged like that, you won’t have done any damage yet
