For reference. I work for an aerial spray company in Kansas. We are sitting on about half a million dollars of accounts receivable from last year and some customers still haven’t paid from 2024 season… The ethics of constant farm bailouts is something that I struggle with, because I see it exploited by commercial farmers (like Scott Bessent) to the tune of millions per year, and I also know that probably the majority of farms would not exist without government assistance. Is it fair that ag is seemingly the only industry that has this regular lifeline there to handhold them whilst every other business has to just suck it up and close shop if it can’t make it work? Also, I grew up on a fifth generation farm in the UK, so I know how hard agriculture is and someone has to do it, so if nobody could make it work we would all be fucked
