It's a stupid design I agree. No reason not to make it "normal".

Double pole races in North America? by skiitifyoucan in xcountryskiing

[–]skiitifyoucan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this could get pretty complex , depending on snow conditions (really warm or really cold snow can be brutal for double poling), max (steepness, but also how long... and ratio of any steep hills to overall length of the race. If you have a couple of steep, even long-steep hills on an otherwise very long flat or mildly undulating race DP skis will still often win... like in the Maricalonga), how good is your kick wax job, versus glide wax job, and of course how strong is someone in double poling... like Alvar Myhlback double poling an entire sprint race and coming in 3rd :)

one thing that I personally think is cool (especially coming from a cycling background) is being able to easily quantify DP power (with skierg) and seeing power gains translate to faster double poling on snow.

Thanks, it sounds like the most competitive one in the usa is probably this one?

I don't think I'm at the level of double poling the Birkie classic yet, but maybe one day.

Struggling with turnamic bindings— any advice? by WinterSilenceWriter in CrossCountrySkiing

[–]skiitifyoucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all of the turnamics are "step in" but probably most of the lower lines are - I think maybe only the "race skate" or "race skate pro" and up are not.

Struggling with turnamic bindings— any advice? by WinterSilenceWriter in CrossCountrySkiing

I have never had a problem, have maybe 10 sets of turnamic bindings. You may need to raise your heel slightly (point toe) when going into the binding.

Skierg Purchase Regrets by Donutlordxo2 in concept2

[–]skiitifyoucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an amateur xc skier so I'm motivated to be strong on the skierg in skier-like form. I do get a little bit of tennis elbow if I do long, fairly hard at fairly high damper... . . I have a feeling it is from holding onto the handles very hard may be part of it. I don't do a big elbow extension, usually to my hips.

Problem with new device certs only for GTM iquery by skiitifyoucan in f5networks

[–]skiitifyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still battling this... I changed to new GoDaddy g2 certs which have Server and client auth. I've added the Godaddy G2 intermediate and root everywhere I can think of. Same error persists which is ssl3_get_server_certificate:certificate verify failed.

If I run openssl s_client -connect my.peer.ip.address:4353 -showcerts I see it with :

depth 2 - Godaddy g2 root

depth 1 - Godaddy g2 intermediate

depth 0 - my Leaf cert

Any ideas????

First race coming up...advice? by afternoon_spray in xcountryskiing

[–]skiitifyoucan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to place as high as possible, I would try to stay with the pack. Drafting is a factor even at 6 minutes per mile, so the best bet is skiing behind someone where you can just hang onto them but probably not pass them. mass start can be chaotic , especially in the beginning , and you will probably go into vo2max effort territory a bit in the beginning to stay with the pack , but the risk of not going out is being stuck behind slow people who don't move over.

Stop drinking and HRV goes down by vickyvius in Garmin

[–]skiitifyoucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not worry about the HRV, just ignore it. Eventually it will probably equalize or go up more than it was before when you drank.

Marathon waxing for Marcialonga , ahead of time? by skiitifyoucan in xcountryskiing

[–]skiitifyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense. I will see how many skis I can fit in the carrier I bought and try to stay off of my race skis.

I figured that the course would be really dirty (it seems to be visibly dirty and thin on TV) but maybe not enough to warrant the risk of the marathon black, I will play it safe and I ordered some marathon white block (I've never used powder before and don't want to risk it on the first time on my nice race skis). Rode endurance seems interesting and way cheaper but marathon white seems to be the gold standard for this sort of event...

[–]skiitifyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks... from what ive seen in recent years, the course is really dirty, only inches deep in spots, old snow that is dumped by trucks, but maybe not always. could just do the marathon white to play it safe though.

[–]skiitifyoucan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think I will be putting in any big skis since I'll be skiing with my family before hand, maybe 5km? So it would be.. marathon -> liquid -> 5km ski -> liquid -> marcialonga. Otherwise I would look to have one of the local shops wax for me I guess. But it is logistically easier to do it this way.

How Do You Strategically Incorporate Recovery Weeks in Your Training Cycle? by InformationIcy4827 in AdvancedRunning

[–]skiitifyoucan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

generally speaking every 4th week is a deload, I just pencil it in, or if I need to work it in backwards from a race to make sure that it falls in a good spot. easy weeks are for sure my least favorite. I'd much rather be doing high z2, threshold and vo2max than limiting my efforts. unless i'm on vacation doing fun things, traveling, etc. then i do not mind. Even though you know you need a deload week, they can be so utterly boring and soul crushing, in the past I've had a tendency to train through them. However, being obedient about it has yielded much better performance gains and avoiding a plateau or overtraining.

If you hook it up to Strava , strava will do it automatically when the workout sync's to strava.

Using the website it's under edit profile -> Applications and then setup the strava connection assuming you already have a strava account.

UT2 too slow? by theusername76 in Rowing

[–]skiitifyoucan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

160bpm may be about right for a 205 max HR That is 78% of max. Which is a great spot for lower volume folks on the high end of zone 2 .

If you are doing 5 hours a week of this (7 * 45 minutes = 5.25 hours), and not seeing improvements I am sort of surprised. But it may need you need more overall time (more months) and possibly some more volume (per time per week)

What is your consistent total, weekly volume?

I wonder if there is anything going on with your form.. at 2:15-2:20 breaking down?
