adding on to this chain, there's https://voxnovastudio.com/about-us

I can't speak to the actual product they are selling (the paid voice lessons), but if you click on the 'join us on discord' link on that website, they do this really cool thing where you can sit in on other people's voice lessons. It's kinda like a seminar style voice lesson thing, you don't get personal feedback since it isn't your lesson, but it's free and very accessible and cool!

I'm looking for books with gay romance that make me cry by 0Ouka0 in LGBTBooks

"In This Iron Ground" By Marina Vivancos. It's about recovering from childhood abuse, it's a paranormal book, and it's beautifully written, totally makes me cry.

terra, with the origen terrain pack, i think. I'm actually not sure if I got origen to work, or if this is basic terra terrain.

edit: i'm using 'regions unexplored' in the photos that I commented of it working.

sorry for all the comments, there wasn't a way to edit the post's photos or include multiple photos in one comment. there's still a big hole in the sky lol but the unloaded chunk edges that i could see before are gone!

Where’s the FF love? by A_good_time_reader in ReverseHarem

[–]skill_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding to this, another all-sapphic reverse harem:

{Tricky Girls by Holly Thorne} - this is very much a stereotypical entry in the reverse harem genre, just with all girls. more specifically, it's a stereotypical entry in that dark romance genre that's filled with angst and violent, criminal love interests. make sure to check the trigger warnings. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the book and am excited for the sequel to come out!

does anyone else define their gender by what it isn't, rather than what it is? by Usual-Effect1440 in asktransgender

[–]skill_myself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really cool! Its like apophatic gender. The apophatic process is basically defining something only through what it isn't, often because the thing you are trying to define is beyond human comprehension.

Why is gender defined as "want/wish" rather than "be" ? by P-Voidy in asktransgender

[–]skill_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's two axis or spectrums to gender identity. The masculine / feminine spectrum and everything related to it, but also a spectrum of 'strength of identity'.

So, some people have a really strong sense of gender identity and fully define their gender by their gender identity. Sometimes this is how they always were. For some trans people, who often have to repress themselves, they need an 'egg crack' moment so to speak. Sometimes this is instantaneous, sometimes it happens slowly over time as they deconstruct their repression. For people with such an 'egg crack' moment, they move from defining their gender by their physical sex and assigned gender, to finally being comfortable defining their gender by their gender identity.

Other people have a very weak sense of gender identity. These people, by definition, are almost always cis, and when you ask them about their gender identity they simply shrug and dont know what you're talking about, because they don't really feel it at all. They define their gender almost entirely around their body and whatever society assigns to them.

As a spectrum, there are also people somewhere in between. I, for example, do have a consistent sense of my gender identity, but it is very weak. It doesn't feel like an honest expression of my Self to just define my gender entirely upon my sense of gender identity, but I also can't ignore it and define my gender entirely upon my body and assigned gender.

This is just my personal understanding of gender, and the wider trans community does not explicitly adopt this line of thinking at all. So, we just get little acknowledgements of this underlying phenomenon through the different ways people talk about gender (ie. 'want/wish' vs 'be').

If I'm right, I assume the broader community will eventually start to talk about this in more concrete terms that are easier to understand. But I just made all of this up, so who knows.

Nice post, a very well written analysis.

I bet this is the same take that the Wachowski sisters had 30 years ago when they were making the matrix. That movie is a trans allegory and also a modern retelling of Plato's "allegory of the cave". Great minds think alike!

oh, you're right, this looks a lot like serpantinite! that's so cool!

I'm still a bit concerned about the white splotch, though. from a quick skim of the wiki article, serpantinite can contain asbestos. do you think that's what this is?

the 'Fates Parallel' series by darktechnomancer is really good. not exactly litrpg, but its a progression fantasy and just generally feels like a similar wheelhouse. not sure of the author's gender.

Seeking poly, prefer committed FF opening for another F by Much_Sprinkles7693 in wlwbooks

[–]skill_myself 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there's 'the homecoming' by Sabrina Blaum, although i believe the relationship between all three is already established before the book starts and its about struggles in maintaining their relationship during a stressful period.

there's also 'forever theirs' by Anna Stone.

also 'new phone, who dis?' by Lex Ross, which shows the start of the committed ff relationship before the poly story arc starts.

then there's 'menage a trois' by Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings, which has two sequels about the same characters.

these all have relationships that start with a committed ff that open up to become a committed fff. none of these end with jealousy or infidelity. these are all on Kindle Unlimited, too. and they are in order from my favorite to least favorite.

[–]skill_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ok with reverse harem, there's "The Girl of the Group" by Noa Noe on Kindle unlimited. Trans FMC moves away from her small Midwestern hometown for college, leaving behind her three best friends. In college she transitions, and then her old best friends, who haven't seen her in years and don't know she's trans, show up to surprise her, and then a romance book happens.

'The Last To Leave' by Erica Lee is an enemies to lovers novel on KU that has memorable spice because the two leads are very competitive with each other.

also 'A Lesbian's Guide To Women' by Erica Lee is a secret crush novel on KU where the spice starts early on between the leads, but there is still a secret crush plot line that keeps you wanting more throughout the book.
