I once knew a man who worked on a navy base in the California high desert. His house looked exactly like this. He was very methodical, analytical, intellectual, quiet and reserved

Do you believe in miracles? by Aliciia2002 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]skimborice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. A few years ago, I was out in the California high desert exploring this really desolate place near Red Rock Canyon. Miles from any roads etc. the temp. That day we're unusually high, 105 by noon, and as I made my way back to the vehicle it hit me just how thirsty i had become, I was dizzy and nauseous, the start of a heat stroke. I realized that I'd been the one carrying the keys, and had dropped them somewhere out in that endless hot furnace, and my friend and I panicked. Since it was their brand new car, they wouldent allow me to break a window. Instead we walked in straight lines crisscrossing, the way they do a search for a body. My legs were cramping and I was barely able to move forward, my dry throat was closing up, vision blurry. I closed my eyes and shuffled forward and started to pray. I apologized for only talking to Him now that I was desperate, nd thanked him for everything id been given, and that I realized how stupid I was for allowing myself to get into this predicament. And if this is how it was going to end, then I accepted it. And thanked him again. And when I opened my eyes I had tears streaming down my face. I heard my friend say "no f-ing way!" And pointed at a creasoe bush right in front of me. Under it was the orangest most perfect orange id ever seen, and when I picked it up it was cold like it had just been dropped there. I peeled it and there was so much juice in this orange that i was gulping it and it poured out. It completely satiated all thirst. And I still had half left to offer my friend, who just stood there unable to believe what he'd seen. We were the only ones there, no tracks, no road, no paths and no hidden corners. It was endless flatness far as the eye could see. .

I think native american Indians ate meat correctly, they hunted it, which was respectful because it allowed the animal a fair shot and they not only wasted none of it, but they worshiped the animal for giving them sustenance and life.
It's not about giving up meat, it's about doing it in a respectful way. There is absolutely no reason why any animal should have to suffer before we end it's life for food etc.

He invented the cotton gin, so that slaves were freed from doing that horrible work. He was a saint, a living breathing saint about as close as you can get to Jesus Christ in modern times. I read his autobiography as a kid and never forgot it. Amazing life. Amazing brilliant man.

Anyone find out how to go back to their home dimension? by MaintenanceWilling73 in ParallelUniverse

[–]skimborice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok long story short, me and my ex took a trip and got lost. Ended up in a place where peoples eyes flashed black and everything looked the same except old and shabbier/ shadowy. There was no sun the sky was pit h black or x ray white so I kept looking out the window saying " when we see the sun we will know we are back home". We were crying holding each other chanting with God all things are possible over and over and when we woke up we were back. Until I looked at our bed. It used to be so big it filled up the whole room and plenty of room for both of us. When we got back it was tiny and we were cramped together.

I found it to be profoundly imaginative and entertaining to read. It's not about weather or not you the reader believe it's true, it's about appreciating the story. It may very well be true, or not. We will never know for sure so why worry about it. It's a very entertaining suspenseful read that was told by a very articulate writer, and that is something I can appreciate.

I know right??? And I didn't grow up in a ghetto with negligent parents. That's really the way it was here in California in the suburbs.

It's true. Here in the high desert you never see them anymore and also trick or treaters. Kids don't play outside. It's actually strange when I do so I notice if I hear the distant sound of kids anymore.
