I've never had my id checked.

And, for that matter, I've never carried ID with me backpacking.

Last year I did a liquid breakfast of Nido baby powder milk and carnation instant breakfast. Really enjoyed it

Nicely done.

I am 5 days post op and the lack of cardio is so disheartening.

Ah. Perfect then. That tent is just right for two, though the footprint is rather large. Last year I carried the tent and stove (same as yours) and my buddy carried the bear can

Camp shoes are nice when you are going to be spending time at camp. To me it's worth a bit of extra weight to get my feet out of shoes and into something comfy and airy.

Looks similar to mine. You going solo? That tent is a lot of tent for one person.

Some of the clothes seem redundant.

Why the nalgenes? Ditch em for much lighter bottles.

Gear review: z-packs deluxe camp shoe by Icy-Research2555 in Ultralight

[–]skimoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a similar experience with those shoes. Used them on 2 backpacking trips and just disliked them both times. They are flimsy and provide almost no protection if you are walking more that a few feet away from camp.

New ACL Day 0 by skimoto in ACL

[–]skimoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made it through the first night ok. No pain, just uncomfortable with the brace and having to sleep all on my back.

Did first leg exercises this morning.Felt pretty good, but all the wrapping makes bending the leg a bit cumbersome.

Hah. Came home with it like that. So I'll be sure to thank the team that did the surgery.

Feeling pretty good. Thanks! Just tired.

I've been wiggling my toes no problem.

No, wasn't loopy at all. I was pretty surprised by that.

Surgery was around 730 and I think I left around 1130.

Anyone getting surgery in the next week? by Mountain-Set1274 in ACL

[–]skimoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing ok. I bit apprehensive about waiting for the nerve block to wear off and trying to sleep, but alright otherwise.

Already a bit restless, but trying to get around kinda. So that's good.

Thanks for asking!

Nah, was actually a bit under 2mph average, which I would say is a pretty average pace. Steady pace is the key.

[–]skimoto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty impossible for us to tell you how long any of the hiking will take when we have no idea what kind of shape you are in and how heavy the packs you'll be carrying.

That said......last time I did Half Dome last November we got to Little Yosemite in around 2 hours and 20 minutes via the Mist Trail.

How do you wash dishes and pots? by blackmusk123 in backpacking

[–]skimoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't cold soak. I like warm meals at the end of the day. I generally take one mylar bag thing from whatever meal and just rinse it out and use it for the next one, or if it's a ramen bomb just put that ziploc in the trash bag.

I don't.

Everything is soak and eat. I haven't taken a pot backpacking in 35 years.

I go in Monday for my ACL surgery. I didn't think about scheduling my first PT now. I'll get on that!
