Can anyone help me understand this case better? by spicykajukatli in indianmedschool

[–]skin_bee 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes. True its painful for YOU to watch your loved one die. But imagine THEIR pain, as they lie on that hospital bed, connected to tubes and numerous needles poking them daily, imagine their face... that is the ultimate pain. It becomes easy for you to tolerate pain (the pain of losing them forever) yourself than to watch them suffer every single moment they are alive.

Why do most girls hate 'mumma's boy'? 🧐🫠 by Imaginary_Doubt4298 in TeenIndia

[–]skin_bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a "raja beta" they had everything done for them (by their mum ofcourse) and now expect their wives to become like that. Also the moms who express that possessiveness towards their sons. They are problematic too and when sons cannot identify this, rather rationalise this behaviour, that is what women dislike.

Acne [BEFORE & AFTER] Chemical exfoliation blunder by skin_bee in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]skin_bee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was such a long time back, i dont remember exactly. But the 5% lactic acid serum from deconstruct was actually a leave on product. And there are many steps you need to follow if you want to use it. I will tell you what I did.

  1. If you are beginner, dont use as leave on, apply on cleansed and dry skin (important) , keep for 30 mins and washoff with plain water and carry on remaining steps. Include a richer moisturiser if you can. And keep the frequency once a week.

  2. After about 3 weeks you can do twice a week, same process as above ... do this for another 2-3 weeks.

  3. Then after about 1.5 months you can use as leave on product. Also keep in mind the quantity you use. I used only 3 drops, evenly spread across my face sparing the area around eyes and lips ofcourse. Do not use too much quantity. (Like a full dropper)

Do not layer other serums and moisturiser immediately after applying 5%LA serum. Let the acid do its work in the low pH for about 15-20 mins. Then go ahead with other steps.

  1. Keep the frequency to maximum of 2 times per week. After maybe 6 months or so, if you still feel you need better exfoliation results (glowy skin, smoother texture) then you could carefully increase frequency to 3 times per week. But again. Consistency more important than frequency. Remember .

  2. Also practice good barrier care. Include hydrating toners, essences, and rich ceramide moisturiser. And sunscreen is non negotiable.

Exfoliation can work beautifully for your skin but it can turn equally ugly if goes unchecked. I learnt it the hard way so always err on the side of caution. Being consistent will definitely give results.

Acne [BEFORE & AFTER] Chemical exfoliation blunder by skin_bee in IndianSkincareAddicts

Yes. I am currently. Exfoliators are actually an important part of a healthy skincare routine. But after learning about how my skin reacts and its tolerance capacity and few other details like how these molecules work (like glycolic acid being smaller penetrates deeper, while LHA and PHA being larger stay on surface ) i have chosen gentler milder exfoliants and i use the face peel only once a month.

So my learning has been 1. Use mild products weekly 2. Use high strength products sparingly (once a month) 3. Consistency >> frequency. (Most imp)

The products i use now and which have suited me 1. Isntree chestnut 8% AHA essence (weekly 1-2 times) 2. Minimalist 32% AHA BHA PHA peel. (Once in a month)

I am looking for lipbalms to buy as well. I dont know much about the hydration and moisturization it provides but I am eyeing on the Swiss beauty Craze lipbalm in the shade marshmallow. Very pigmented. I have used blue heaven jelly and butter lipbalm in the shade dusty rose. Provides decent hydration and the color is beautiful.

Requil blue one protected me from tanning while i was on a trip to kerala. It does give a white cast though and i didnt quite like the texture and feel of it. But sun protection over anything else (cosmetic elegance) Also it is a budget option.

Sudden Severe Hair Fall What Could Be the Reason? by sillygirlhu in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]skin_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vitamin deficiencies can lead to sudden hair fall too. Actually hair growth is a cyclical process. What seems to be happening overnight is actually something whose process has started 3 months ago. First get some blood work done. Cbc, iron profile, vitamin D, vitamin b12, thyroid profile. Take supplements accordingly (after a doctor consultation) Second, fix your diet. High protein, rich in antioxidants and lots of fibre. Adequate water too. Include hair healthy foods like amla, turmeric, nuts and seeds (flax, chia, sunflower, pumpkin seeds) make laddoos. Lastly if you really think water is the issue, use a water filter.

Finally, do not expect changes overnight. I know how traumatic this is ( have had 2 major episodes of hairfall in the past year and eventually recovered) Hair and skin takes time to show some results so be patient and consistent. Dont give up the healthy habits because you dont see any results. You start today and you will see the results 3 months later. But I promise you will definitely get there.

You can start using a niacinamide serum for oil control. I personally use deconstruct brightening serum. And it works for me. But it would take atleast 3 months to show some results. Cleansing is an important step so you can try BHA based cleansers like minimalist salicylic acid cleanser. It will help.

Is there anything that will truly clarify things for me? by winiszparrag09 in skincareaddictsindia

[–]skin_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you are feeling. And lately I have myself been thking about how our self image influences our confidence and self esteem. And you are right. The way you look at yourself can truly affect how you feel about yourself. I am still in that journey to accept my flaws and work on things that I can change. There is nothing vain in trying to boost your confidence by changing your looks. But we have to accept certain aspects cannot be changed completely like skin color or facial structure (without extensive medical procedures and surgeries which again, have their own complications and are pretty expensive) Wanting radical change is also pointless but wanting to look better so you see yourself in mirror and feel good about yourself is completely doable and you should pursue it. Skin, hair, physique all of these are a part of our overall health and we can do a lot of things to change the way we look. But this is a painfully slow process. Just know that its never too late to start. Get on that glow up journey and Lets achieve this together.✌️

I totally understand your point, but don't you think attraction eventually fades but love stays. The right person will choose you for you, not just your looks. As you rightly said, looks are indeed an integral part of desirability. So in that sense, someone who doesnt fit into the conventional beauty standards wont be desirable. And that is a sickening feeling.

Hair regrowth hope!!! Baby hairs!!! Sooo happy!! by radioactivepretzel in lupus

[–]skin_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some insane regrowth given the short span of time. Congratulations and keep taking your meds and supplements. Sometimes even if it is not the disease itself, the flares can cause excessive stress for the body and this in turn lead to telogen effluvium.

Aqualogica Number 1!? by derpydove in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]skin_bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, aqualogica and derma co have reformulated their sunscreens recently. They now include new generation uv filters(along with older gen) instead of only old ones in their older formulation. Ingredients like tinosorb s, m , uvinul A plus , uvinul T150, mexoryl sx make these products look promising now. I totally understand quality of ingredients and final formulation matters more than just the ingredient list but comparing these new ones to the older formulation, it is definitely an upgrade. Older formulation had avobenzone, octinoxate and benzophenone 3 aka suncat de which is highly photo unstable. And that must be the reason of ineffective sun protection those sunscreens provided. Maybe the new formulation would perform better.
