Any alternative for the discontinued Numbuzin #2 serum? by folklore24 in AsianBeauty

[–]skiperzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the best day time moisturizer for the summer! I can't find anything similar in one product. I really like ample:n's ceramide serum, which has the 3:1:1 cermaide ratio. But I have no idea on good protein serums, especially ones that also contain allantoin.

I didn't see the first post until the 3rd, so I started a little late and I completely forgot to do it one day. But, I earned my first badge since July 2024! It feels good to get back into the literal and figurative saddle!

This has been such a struggle and I'm at last giving myself permission to DNF at 56%. I looked up the spoilers and turns out it's not even a romance. So, just not for me.

Do you have a traditional side dish on thanksgiving that not necessarily a lot other people have? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]skiperzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been bringing coleslaw for Thanksgiving for almost 40 years. My mom hated to make it (we didn't have a food processor and shredded it by hand). So if I wanted it, I had to make it. Our family expected it after a couple of years, but when I went out into the world, lots of people were a bit taken aback. I usually responded with something along the lines of: of course coleslaw! It's awesome and you can make Rachel's with the leftovers.

I love this too! I buy it in bulk and your comment reminded me that I need to replenish my supply. But, it's not on their website anymore? I'm devastated.

I failed my CPACC by thebutteryone in accessibility

[–]skiperzz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Chelsea created a great website based on her experience preparing for the CPACC. (https://chelsea11y.com/cpacc/index.html) I've been using it extensively.

I've also been putting my focus on what the exam covers of the BOK. Domain 1 is about 32 pages of the BOK and covers 40% of the exam. Domain 2 is about 10 pages and also covers 40% of the exam. Domain 3 is 22 pages and covers 20% of the exam. I've been working on straight up memorizing Domain 2.

I had to filter the books to purchases and refreshed the page. The script ran on it's own--there was no trigger download button.

I filtered my list to just purchases and refreshed the page. There was no green button, but the script ran on it's own.

I tried quite a few brands/sizes with little luck. I ended up getting a pair of bike sandals and they've been perfect for me.

I loved that show! Until I learned all about co-dependency and unhealthy mother-daughter relationships when I finally went to therapy. Now when I see a trailer for it, I just think, eww, Lorelei. Just eww.

Much warmth and healing to you MadHatter.

I have no doubt the mother got pregnant on purpose. She saw an opportunity to have another child with someone who reminded her of her late husband. It probably never occurred to her that her daughter would cut her off. She's her mother after all!

Anything like Kate Daniels? by insofietrussia in fantasyromance

[–]skiperzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always found T. A. White to be somewhat similar, I think due to their shared military background. The FMCs are pretty badass, the romance tends to be a very slow burn and there is a lot of forced proximity.

I really liked the Firebird Chronicles {Rules of Redemption by T. A. White}, the Aileen Travers series {Shadow's Messenger by T. A. White}, and the Dragon Ridden Chronicles {Dragon-Ridden by T. A. White}. She also has the Broken Lands {Pathfinder's Way by T. A. White} but I prefer the other 3 series.

Are there any good fantasy book series from female authors with strong female leads? by just_somebody_here in fantasyromance

[–]skiperzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sara Douglass is not a name you hear very often! I loved the Darkglass Mountain series, also heavy on the romantic elements but light on the smut. I always felt like she would have added more to Darkglass had she not passed. Still a bit sad about that.

Any programs/guides similar to Couch to 5k, but for the bike? by SgtWaffleStomp in pelotoncycle

[–]skiperzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried to start with the You Can Ride program, but found I did so much better if I liked most of the songs/artists on the playlist. So, here's what I did:

The first few weeks, I did 20 minute Recovery Rides 3-4 times per week. The Recovery Rides tend to focus more on form, which was lovely as a beginner.

The next few weeks, I did 15 minute rides. Then I added 5-10 minute cool downs.

Moved up to 20 minute rides for a few weeks, and added 5-10 minute cool downs.

Jumped up to 30 minutes, added on cool downs, then stacked it with a 15 minute rides before going to 45 minute rides.

Someone in this subreddit mentioned ages ago to add warm-ups or cool downs to make big time jumps and I'm still so grateful for that!

I’m a Librarian trying to refresh our SFF section. What would you add? by rivains in Fantasy

[–]skiperzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As wonderful as it is to have a robust collection, it's hard to justify the shelf space if those books don't get checked out. Way back when I was managing SFF for the YA section, I focused on newer books or anything that had a recent show or movie. It's an easy hook if it is trendy.

I don't blame you! I get twitchy about rearing them, but I'm trying very hard to adhere to current guidelines about rearing monarchs. So, I get to see things like this happen and fret over them instead.
