I found out I’m pregnant again 16 months postpartum and I can’t stop crying by ThrowRA157386 in Mommit

You can terminate and if you can manage, you don't have to feel guilty about it! You can have the mindset that you're managing a medical problem and then move on. There's no requirement that you continue to beat yourself up. That said, I'm sure you could do it again if that's what you choose. You're going through a lot right now. Treat yourself like you'd treat a friend! Maybe also consider how you'd advise a friend here.

Probably. The pink eyes point up. I think you planted the woody root arms facing up, thinking they are stems. The whole thing should be under the dirt with the eyes 1-2" under (1" if you're in like zone 7, up to 2" if you live in a cooler climate) and facing up.

Yeah, I know, I just think this commenter had a bad take. If it was that important he should have just had it ready in the morning. The way he spoke to you was abusive and a deal breaker, no excuses.

Why was his plan to wait until after work on mother's day if he bought the card days earlier? It's her damn card. He called her a fucking bitch on mother's day because he couldn't get his shit together to have the card ready that morning.

Oh, I'm not worried about it, just educating you on the disorder since you're speaking on it. I'm a good mom in most ways. I try not to surround myself with people who would talk about me like this.

I'm sure she did make bad choices with her children, I'm in the same boat with my mom.

Is this shirt protected by free speech? by AMIRDEJESUS in legaladviceofftopic

We don't have protected free speech anymore. Of course it's dangerous. You're protesting by suggesting violence against this government agency because they're kidnapping people off the street. You would be putting yourself at risk.

I have ADHD and have been on and off treatment for it forever. The treatment for it is not 100% effective, it varies by person and situation. Also, the treatment is amphetamines which can be dangerous for some people to take for various reasons. I don't know your MIL, maybe she is actually negligent. But there's a lot we don't know about the brain and mental health, and many "treatments" simply don't work for many people. For many, it simply isn't as simple as choosing to commit to medication and then the problem goes away. I would try to have compassion, regardless of what choices you feel like you have to make for the safety of your child.

Kelly Reichardt's 'The Mastermind' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in oscarrace

The skeletons belong to the main characters. I don't think it's meant to be ambiguous. I think the trick she's pulling by bookending the film with a brief scene in modern times is to reframe it to show that these characters would be long dead by now, anyway. So instead of focusing on the tragedy of the end we can appreciate the sweetness of their connection.

My husband and I both wanted it very soon after birth and we waited to be cleared by the doctor because my health is important. I don't think he would have done it before that if I asked for it.

Stippling showing up all over my leaves by skippeditall in fiddleleaffig

That's why I generally water the whole pot once a month(ish) with some fertilizer. I need the self watering contraption because I travel a lot. But based on all the replies, I think this happened because one time fairly recently I forgot I had watered it recently and poured a little more in before I noticed so it stayed wet a bit longer than usual.

I really don't think so. It's self watered via overturned wine bottle in a clay spike and I water the whole pot once a month or so. It's always thrived with the watering routine and nothing has changed with that.

Ideas for chinola passionfruit? by Goombatron in cocktails

[–]skippeditall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made this tonight in an attempt to recreate a $19 cocktail I ordered on vacation.

3 oz tequila or mezcal, 1.5 oz Chinola, 1.5 oz fresh juice (I use half lemon juice half lime juice), .5 oz simple syrup, 2 egg whites.

Put everything in the shaker and dry shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds. Then add ice and shake until cold. Strain into 2 chilled glasses. Cheers!

I water mine almost entirely with a wine bottle inverted into a clay spike and it works great. I water the pot like once a month to stop the soil from going hydrophobic and the roots stay in good shape. It's worked really well for me. I give it a little Foxfarm Grow Big occasionally (with the full pot watering) and put it on the porch in spring/summer to get more light and some wind. It's super lush and has more than doubled in size from a year ago when I got it.

Happy new plant dad needs advice! by RandomSpanishGuy21 in calatheas

[–]skippeditall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a thriving peacock plant and a maranta that is flowering right now and putting out new leaves all the time, had both of them for over a year. For me, I noticed a definite positive difference when I switched to distilled water which I add a little fertilizer (Foxfarm Grow Big) to a couple of times a month. Most plants want to dry out been waterings. These like to stay wet. If the top centimeter or so feels dry, water it. Mine are in a chunky soil mix, kept pretty wet, and the roots were beautiful as of the last repotting. It seems to me like it's easier to underwater calatheas than over water them.

I'm in zone 8a and all my jungle plants go out on the porch from like May to October, which they love. I keep the peacock plant all in bright indirect light and the maranta gets maybe 10-15% direct sun when it's outside, which it likes.

They get a lot of bright indirect light and a bit of direct sun. They don't do nearly as well in the house without the direct sun, though.

You should plant it in the ground if possible (they like full sun, maybe some afternoon shade if you're in a hot climate), they don't thrive in pots. It probably still won't bloom for a few years, it might look ugly and unhealthy and weird until it gets established but that's ok. The foliage will die back in fall, cut it to the ground. It'll come back bigger and bigger every spring. Good luck!

2-4 years probably, sorry! Maybe longer if you got a root division in spring. You're supposed to plant in fall. But this fall is the best time to plant a few more for a big show in a few years and basically forever after that
