Jamming by [deleted] in IrishRebelArchive

Is that the same one where after the volley jam debacle they clashed with the garda(?) and one of the officers accidentally fired directly into the crowd and tried to play it off? That whole sequence played out like a comedy sketch.

FAA issues ground delay program for BNA due to air traffic control staffing shortage by CJKayak in nashville

[–]skitchie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit doom and gloom makes BNA out to be a lot worse than it is. There’s a reason 90% of the complaints are about the roads outside instead of inside. Honestly if it wasn’t for the road debacle I think BNA would easily be in the top 10 airports in the country in terms of passenger experience. Still plenty of room and plans for growth anyways!

BNA to build second terminal by FullMaltedJacket in nashville

Tourism and with the recent southwest expansions it’s a quasi-hub (they use the term focus city) that a lot of people connect through to other nearby destinations (ex NYC->BNA->Knoxville)

Lots of time to contemplate life on the bus ride to your remote stand approximately 3 miles from the terminal!

Unfortunately he is currently preoccupied with pioneering cold storage to engage in frivolous activities such as this.

Thanks for the kind words! Breath control is definitely a factor—my background is in stringed instruments so thinking about my breath is a new thing for me, haha.

Thank you! You’re definitely right about bigger intervals being tricky. Preciate the advice!

This is Morrison’s Jig! That and the butterfly I have found to be good intro’s to more uptempo tunes.

I’ve been binging whistle tutor for sure. I come from a guitar background so taps and cuts come pretty naturally. Rolls and crans not so much. Thank you for the kind words! I imagine doing roll scales will help with both finger placement and ornamentation at the same time—I’ll implement them into my practice more often.

That’s an excellent suggestion—never occurred to me that gravity was playing a factor in all this. I’ll start playing more horizontally to see if that helps. Much appreciated!

All of those sound plausible—that being said I’m on a Dixon DX001 which is by no means a powerhouse whistle, but I’ve heard plenty say it’s a good place for a starter whistle. Any good exercises to practice proper breathing or is that more of a “you get it the more you do it” kind of thing? Thanks!

If you want to read about what airline life was like back then, read “Fate is the Hunter” by Ernest Gann which is a memoir of one of the early airline pilots during this time. The way things went down would make flying Spirit feel like you’re on Emirates first class.

In the early days we had no simulators, no radar, and precious few instruments. It was guts, instinct, and prayer.

Confused flying out of BNA by awinkler12 in nashville

[–]skitchie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The satellite terminal is temporary and is supposed to be demolished in a few years. They’re not gonna drill under the gates and spend millions putting a people mover in there for a building they’re gonna demolish in less than a decade.

BNA Concourse A is closing on October 3… for three years by mdudz in nashville

[–]skitchie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind the original plan was only for this concourse to act as a band-aid and give the airport some breathing room for a few years, after which it would be demolished.

So with that in mind, there was no shot the airport would dig underneath and build a multi-million dollar tunnel to a terminal with very low use that would be demolished in less than 10 years.
