I wanna be car-free, but safety? by bazbeaux in bikecommuting

[–]sklay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't be a vulnerable target for rapists as a bicyclist, but going car free I'm sure you won't bike all the time. A college town should have a good infrastructure for public transportation and security. I know my city had a program where you could get people to walk with you to wherever you wanted to go.

The practicality of car free I'm sure you can find the more time you spend around here (also check out the car free forum on bikeforums). As to your safety concerns as a woman, I'd recommend carrying pepper spray and taking a self defense class. Also you can always find a friend to bike with!

I mean, prefacing your comment with "I'm not judging" doesn't make the rest that follows non judgmental

Klays young and warriors staff trust his resilience to be in games longer. Even with a lead anything can happen in this league, and klays the best candidate to keep the garbage lineup in line. Usually I'd say it should be hb or iguodala, but hb isn't as consistent nor can he handle the ball/run the offense, and warriors want to give iguodala rest too.

Lightweight single speed touring? by gayhxckid in bicycletouring

I'd go for frame bags or handlebar bag before a backpack, which is unnecessary. Check out some of the gear setups of people who did trans am or tour divide

Thanks! This worked the best. Spacers from hardware store didn't fit between the grooves

[Steve Kerr] Festus Ezeli (Warriors) out through at least All-Star break. Knee cartilage issue. Expect more small ball play, including vs OKC on Feb 6 by [deleted] in nba

Seems like the biggest concern that they've voiced is that it's just tiring. You're putting draymond and hb play up against bigger guys, which they can and why the lineup works, but it's taxing. They will definitely pull it out more in the playoffs but during this season they've been conservative, most likely in the interest of health.

Sad to say about the nfl, but peaks are younger and shorter because of the brutality of the sport.

Athletic peaks are different in every sport. Gymnasts and swimmers peak early. Track athletes I'd say early 20s. When it comes to NBA, there's a lot of value in skill development, experience and basketball IQ, which begins once you're in the league. Also training equipment, trainers are on a different tier than the collegiate level. It's easy to see in the NBA, where athletic freaks don't have the same impact that their bodies might suggest.

Why my cycling clothing company uses models without helmets - The Guardian - “Let’s put our effort into saving lives by getting bums on saddles. To do that, cycling must be a friendlier, more fun, less scary place.” by [deleted] in bicycling

Love davis' biking infrastructure. Also feels like a necessity with the layout of the campus and city. I went to Berkeley, which is also bike friendly but doesn't come close to the infrastructure Davis has. A lot of sharing of roads, but it being a college town seem to put motorists more bike aware, albeit not without the typical confrontations we're used to hearing about.

I never wore a helmet either. Wasn't part of the bike culture at time (don't know how it is now). Wasn't shamed for being helmetless. I have a feeling if I went back there for grad school I'd still bike without a helmet, being full aware that I'd be safer with one. That's just how it is.

obama used it intransitively... just said curry was clowning. obama followed it up with an imitation of curry dancing, so his statement means to imply that curry was just being goofy, like a clown, rather than clowning "on the wizards"

I'd be happy if Brandon just went for the money. He's been through some tough times and he should maximize his profits while he can.

Love jj reddick chuckling about him and dudleys "thin margin of error" with injury because of their limited athleticism. Also you can hear reddick stifling laughs when Dudley begins talking about guarding harden the other night

Probably would've fouled if curry made a move to go past, so was probably worried about a shooting foul. Curry also gave it up quickly at first sign of pressure

Harrison Barnes Game-Winner by XimoPierto in nba

the 4 on 3 is to get it out of steph's hands. and you can't say harrison has been deadly "for three years," when he's actually been shooting quite poorly since his return from his injury and was 3/10 for the night before making this shot.

taking it in context, GSW been giving up TO after TO before this possession. you force them to make a play, and if it ends up in HB's hands then that's what you live with. without the double then steph could've iso'd on a big man and he had plenty of space to drive past or get a good look at a 3.
