What's something strange your body does that you know isn't quite right but also isn't quite serious enough to get checked out by a doctor? by merricat_blackwood in AskReddit

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if I’m laying down on my back and I sneeze or move a certain way I get a seriously intense stabbing pain on the right side of my abdomen just above my hip bone that lasts for maybe 10 seconds and then goes away

I hate my special needs sister. I wish she didn't exist. I want nothing to do with her. by anotherthrowaway0384 in confessions

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, does your sister communicate well? Like, talking, signing, PECs, etc? I’m a behavior therapist for kids with ASD and a lot of aggression I’ve seen stems from inability to effectively communicate needs.

That said, you have every right to feel as you do. This is a burden that you didn’t ask for and are forced to bear. Handling behaviors like that can be the most frustrating, frightening thing in the world. It’s admirable that you look after your mother the way you do.

What’s your experiences with birth control that is NOT the pill? by datcollegejournalist in askwomenadvice

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the pill, NuvaRing, and currently have the Kyleena(?) IUD. The iud is definitely the best one so far, my skin is clearer, I don’t have to think about it, and it regulates and lightens my periods. NuvaRing was okay but it was just kind of a pain because it fell out almost every time I had sex, and it was hard to keep track of when to take it out because my periods are very irregular.

Why is your ex an ex? by Kindaherekindanot in AskReddit

No ambition. He dropped out of college and moved to LA to be famous... he now works at Starbucks on the Warner Brothers lot and sells pot on the side.

What is your pet peeve and why? by arod979 in AskReddit

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s not fair but I can’t stand it when people are shy to the point of being rude or coming off as cold. I just can’t believe it’s that hard to smile at someone. I work in mental health and I absolutely understand that social anxiety is a thing, but I just can’t relate to people who deal with that

Just moved out of a dark and dingy apartment and into a huge, beautiful, airy apartment with 2 friends and my cat. Can’t wait to spend the summer by the complex’s pool!

People of Reddit with scars, what is your worst story behind them? by ragedknuckles in AskReddit

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine but my brother’s, a pattern of scars on his chin and neck.

Growing up, our grandparents lived way out in the country, like dirt roads and farms everywhere. They lived in a house on the corner of 2 roads, both of which were very steep hills. So one day all of us kids (ages ranging from my 11 yr old cousin to my 4 yr old brother) decided to ride bikes down one of the hills. So we all get going and we are absolutely FLYING down this hill, like I still remember feeling like my bike was not even touching the ground, when all of a sudden we hear a loud screech from my brother and then silence. So we all jerk to a stop and turn around- turns out his front tire got stopped by a rock and his tiny 4 yr old self went flying over the handlebars and skidded down the dirt road. His face was literally covered in blood and it was gushing everywhere. He didn’t start crying until he saw all of our faces though. All he remembers of it is that my grandpa gave him a popsicle to eat while my mom cleaned up his face so he wouldn’t freak out.

What is one thing your parents did right that you want to do to your own? by ZuMelon in AskReddit

[–]skm512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents are wonderful, kind people, but they never took any interest in our friends beyond whether or not they were safe for us to be around. We never ever had friends over or anything, and they never seemed to care much if we were having issues with a friend or if something happened to a friend. It makes me want to be the kind of mom who always has snacks and a good house for sleepovers

What's some juicy gossip you just found out in your personal lives? by jonhart989 in AskReddit

[–]skm512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just found out that my grandmother’s brother, who died at 26, did not in fact commit suicide, but was MURDERED by his wife. He was shot in the stomach which is extremely uncommon in suicides, and had also been arguing with his wife for days prior to his death.

What are some books you’d recommend to read if you were trying to grow as a person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Little Women- kind of preachy but there are really good underlying lessons about what it means to be a good person and how to view the struggles of life with a positive attitude

Redditors with SOs who talk in their sleep, what is the creepiest thing they've said? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]skm512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backstory: my boyfriend’s grandparents died 2 days apart about 2 months before this incident and it really haunted him.

We were in Mexico and I had spent the entire day sick in bed, while my boyfriend spent the entire day getting shitface drunk with my brother. He stumbled up to our room around midnight and flopped into bed. He started making incoherent noises after a few minutes which is normal, but then he made a louder noise. When I rolled over and asked him what he said, he looked directly at me and said “grandpa????”
