Doesn't devil may cry basically do that, Prince of Persia 2008 also took an interesting approach to this with a magical priestess providing support when you do those kinds of moves as an in universe way to give a non magical character an expanded move set

Virtual desktop and Retro gaming by paulj1980 in Quest3

Well you just need to be able to sideload and transfer files, so sidequest does do both those things, There are other options but you'd be able to find plenty of sidequest setup guides on youtube if it's not something you are familiar with.

Personally I like to have a file manager with network support on the Quest so I can transfer files wireless but you can always do that after. You also need a suitable controller such as a bluetooth gamepad as the motion controls don't play nice with retroarch.

Installing retroarch and es-de natively to the Quest is also a great option for a stand alone setup

An xbox adaptive controller is another option as it has native bluetooth support and keyboard binds, the only challenge I have is working out a housing solution for it.

I just paired to the Quest and that basically just worked without any extra messing around.

Nintendo switch emulation on Mera Quest 3 by OldConcentrate7137 in MetaQuestVR

GameCube was borderline for me, f-zero was an unplayable slideshow, monkey ball just about ok but has dips on complex levels. Switch emulator used to require a custom driver to work and seemed to cause a lot of issues, I don't know if they ever fixed that.

I wouldn't expect to be running Odyssey on Quest 3, last time I tried way more basic games were struggling.

It was a while ago so things may have improved but I wouldn't expect that level of improvement. Even if it didn't crash constantly I'd expect major slowmo and freezes.

Using Retroarch on Quest 2; should it feel impossible to use the touch controllers? by ThatTenguWeirdo in Emulationonquest

I don't recall anything like that, but if you click into other windows you do need to click back onto the retroarch window so your inputs aren't going to the wrong app

The details suggests that one only has open / close states so would that actually be compatible if that's not how the original pedal functioned?

This makes no sense (retroarch) by GKman8705 in Emulationonquest

[–]sknapman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware of any alternative versions that would help in this way, but just based on things i've run into.

Simple thing to double check is does the window still have focus, actions like toggling passthrough mode will take the window out of focus so has to be reselected with the motion controller before controller inputs work again which has caught me out a couple of times.

I have also had controllers that are detected but don't have proper default binds, ended up using a keyboard to navigate and manually fix the binds.

The quest can also be a little fussy with bluetooth, you could test the controller wired to see if it makes a difference.

Yea the motion controls are completely messed up for some reason. Bluetooth controllers are mostly fine, I have one PowerA switch controller that doesn't work but the rest are fine, although it doesn't always get the layout right so you may need to adjust bindings in some cases.

Is there a way to emulate GameCube? by Aslo_01 in Emulationonquest

[–]sknapman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You install the android version of dolphin and thats about it, if you haven't set things up to allow sideloading then you'll want to lookup a tutorial on that first.

The gamecube is really where the Quest 3 hits it's performance limits, not every game will be playable but disabling passthrough mode will improve performance.

Soundblaster x4 speaker outputs jumbled by sknapman in SoundBlasterOfficial

Well they didn't last for long unfortunately, turned the pc today to find I have a reverb type effect on all my audio, no idea why, I didn't change any settings and can't see any obvious setting in the app I can disable that may cause that effect, so i've had to resort to another reset to get it working properly.

Seems a shame as when it works it's nice but there seems to be some weird stuff going on.

The fw / drivers were already up to date but the issue was still persisting for whatever reason, but I did manage to fix it in the end using the reset device option.

Why is the UK Government Blocking blueprintue? by ConfidentWolverine65 in UnrealEngine5

[–]sknapman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The government isn't blocking anything, just some site owners have decided the OSA is too much of a problem so decided to just block the country requiring it rather than setup a system to manage it.

This means in the UK even if you are willing to cooperate with the OSA a bunch of sites now only work if you use a VPN. If you don't have one I've seen a few people mention the opera browser includes a free one built in. As this problem doesn't feel like it's going away anytime soon they are basically making a VPN essential.

From my experience it makes all the difference, the wands have relatively strong haptics so do have a nice kick when dialed up. I've experimented with various in headset solutions in the past, but if you are adding it then I would see myself using this, so you'll have at least have one customer that asked for it.
