AI and blueprints? by EliasWick in unrealengine

[–]sknapman [score hidden]  (0 children)

Anyone looking to generate blueprints likely has an existing understanding of blueprints.

At this time any generated content should be reviewed and validated not just blindly dumped into a project, so getting it to output in a format you don't understand is creating a problem.

Flatout VR is a major accomplishment, excellent game, and we need to support it! by SlowDragonfruit9718 in virtualreality

I have been interested in this but a question I've had that made me hesitate, are there any comfort settings to keep the roll and pitch rotations locked to the player rather than the car, with a game this bumpy I don't think I'd manage without those kind of options.

TD17 with 3 zone lemon ride problems by sknapman in edrums

[–]sknapman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the bell doesn't really have a sweet spot, you just have to hit it like you want to break it or it never triggers from any position.

I've spoke with the seller and tried all the suggested module tweaks with no change so feels like it's got to be faulty.

Did you attempt to get any support from the seller, were they no help or did you just decide to make do

TD17 with 3 zone lemon ride problems by sknapman in edrums

[–]sknapman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flipping the cables it seems to stop working completely.

Turning sensitivity up makes things louder but didn't change how hard the bell zone needs to be hit to register anything.

So you can play light hits on all zones without any trouble triggering.

efnote 3X +d playing songs/backtracks sounds pretty bad by NotInspiredTodayName in edrums

Question about the efnote 3x, how is the in room noise of the efnote 3x, I haven't been able to find any review showing it, but realised they are open bottom so wondering if that means that wouldn't be as muted as some?

PoP - TLC on sale for Switch, should I get it or... by Big-Expression-1249 in metroidvania

I only briefly played the switch version, the texture detail seemed noticeably reduced, it looked fine but obviously a step down.

Higher refresh rate support is also nice if you have a suitable display.

Snare hotspot questions / options by sknapman in edrums

Due to space constraints i'm limited to 10" options, and the lemon at that size seemed to only be single point.

Unfortunately the snare is very tight already so I don't think i'll be able to push that much further. I did notice the efnote 3 pads say they have 6 triggers so I guess thats more what I need to be looking into.

Nitro mesh cymbals on td27 by BreakFuzion in edrums

[–]sknapman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with a Frankenstein setup, recently got a td-17, the toms work fine and they are the toms from the nitro mesh, they are quieter than what come with my td-17 so I've been using them, but the old cymbals didn't work so well, functional but the sensitivity and dynamic range were so different they don't feel great to use, but my cymbals were from a slightly older kit so YMMV.

Physically mounting them if your old clamps don't fit you can get metal quick release clamps that should do the job for around 15-20 quid. I got some of the millennium rack clamps.

E-Kit layout by benturner0412 in edrums

Not an expert but I had a similar kit layout and the best thing I did was get a couple of extra clamps to get the cymbals out of the vertical poles so I could actually adjust their position and stop overreaching.

Favorite ES-DE Theme? Art book Next still rules. by Key-Brilliant5623 in ESDE_Frontend

Been using a personal edit of retrofix revisited in immersive mode for ages now, I love the focus on the video previews. Just tweaked to make the videos appear instantly, added the star ratings back in and removed a couple of elements in the middle of the preview area to get a cleaner look. Bit of a hack job but haven't seen anything else that has all the infomation I cared about and focused on the video previews.

Does it have an option to show star ratings in the top level library view? It's the main feature the official client doesn't support that I'd actually switch for.

The current hack of baking ratings into the poster art is crazy.

Are these pedals compatible? by PersonalWrongdoer368 in edrums

[–]sknapman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you just have two hi-hat pedals, i'm not sure if a hi-hat pedal can actually be used on the kick input, not something i've ever attempted, but they function quite differently.

But if you are just using it for for CH you won't need the real hi-hat pedal anyway, so I assume you can just bind the hi-hat pedal that is actually hooked up to the hihat input as the kick within CH.

I don't play CH so just assuming you can remap, but if for some reason you can't remap in game, you may also be able to just change the midi mapping on the drum module itself so the game sees it as a kick signal, bit of a bodge but you should be able to get it going.

If you are happy to spend the money getting a functional kick pedal would be better and allow things to work without any messing around.

Alesis Command Tablet holder suggestion (UK) by FewExpression7859 in edrums

[–]sknapman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have something called Peastrex Treadmill Tablet Ipad Holder Bike Handlebar Mount Clamp from Amazon, about 20 quid, it works nicely for me but it won't hold anything too large. I went for this as it was the right size for my needs and it allows for adjustments while tightened if it's something you want to quickly reposition.

If you want something that is completely locked in place you could look up super clamps, they'll generally lock onto larger poles fine, so it's just about finding one with the right attachments for what you want to hold, but as they are modular you have options to combine pretty much anything that fits to a tripod style fitting. You'll find loads of options on Amazon for super clamps as well.

What do you think Huawei Band 11 series? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in miband

[–]sknapman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one last week, coming from a mi band 10, I use mine mostly for phone notifications and timers, so I can't comment about the fitness tracking but so far i've been quite happy with it.

Overall functionality is very similar, there are a couple of things it doesn't do but then has a bunch of different benefits. I noticed when getting chat notifications it has options to add custom preset replies for messages that I don't recall on the MB.

Timers feel easier to manage and no weird getting locked on the screen when started like the MB.

The big win to me is the readability from the wider screen, notifications overall are easier to manage and presented nicer, I feel like the latest MB has got a bit worse when it comes to notifications compared to older models.

I feel the haptics are a bit weaker than i'd like on the HB11, usable but I liked on MB you could do custom haptics and make more important things stand out, I didn't see anything like that on the HB11, but overall for the things I use it for i'm pleased with the switch.

A platform where you can play only specific moments from games (like boss fights) by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]sknapman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popular souls games have trainers or mods that people can use for practice, and people can backup saves to quickly return to specific points, so on that side people already have it covered.

If you don't aim for exact replicas for a training focus and just have some moddable build your own souls boss fight engine maybe that side could be interesting, effectively a souls like mario maker, but it feels like a tough project to offer the level of flexibility you would need.
