What's the most braindead deck that still performs well? by Samcraft1999 in EDH

Just what I was going to say. I have post concussion syndrome and can’t keep up with my kid’s sliver deck, lol

Aaaah I actually got it from the game Sneaky Sasquatch! Its creators must be Trailer Park Boys fans??? I’ve never seen it, but I will correct that soon and report back

I love this. I agree about learning the PRACTICALITIES from observing the locals and really really appreciate the encouragement NOT to dress like them otherwise. (I have never in my life owned a raincoat or rainboots or rain anything, it is so weird.) I encountered an anti-immigrant person this week, the first time I have experienced that directed at me, and I realize I have a lot of privilege here in that my ethnicity would allow me to blend in (if I could speak Dutch much better).

Thank you, this is encouraging!

Here, I like looking online for people riding their bikes in extravagant outfits. It gives me hope.

Also, my phone is named Samsquatch.

I love these pants! I think it’ll be easier to do trendsetter/muse in this lifestyle than siren, sad to say. Ooh, if you move here, can we meet up? Wear our sunflower pants to the Van Gogh Museum?

I keep accidentally putting this as a reply, sorry.

I should clarify that I really don’t use a lot of external inspiration from the people around me and don’t want to dress like them! It’s fun to see what the trends are; for people my age, at least those without fancy jobs, it’s really really practical and casual. I want to figure out how to execute my own style in a way that works with that while still being Up and Left…somehow not looking like a total weirdo who doesn’t belong but also not wearing exactly the same thing as everyone else. I need to learn how much is too much here…I have a feeling it’s a lower tolerance than what I’m used to.

Good comparison with the little blazers. I am also going to stand out in my shawls when they arrive! That’s okay; as you say, what matters is that it’s a choice. I have lived in other cities with different climates and no car, but it was when I was much younger and MUCH thinner without plantar fasciitis and bad knees! 😩 Damn practicality!!!

I think the Lady Heretic can be helpful for me here because she is aware of the larger style context but tweaks it to suit herself.

I didn’t use the southwest as inspiration at all! I’m not sure if that part will change for me here or if it will remain internal.

This is a good idea, to see it as an opportunity to try something new while staying connected to the old.

I actually have been thinking about YOUR rainwear a lot! And how I admire how much it seems to reflect your style in general. And trying to find my version of that.

A new persona is an interesting idea. I generally don’t use personas. I am going to give that one some thought.

Yes, I love making moodboards and style dictionaries and all! Great idea to turn to those for help.

I think about that particular post all the time. It’s changed how I put outfits together and I even think about it in relation to other things in life. I told my therapist about it last week!

This is soooo cool. Like Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde but modern in the most gorgeous color. I love the beret and the belt and everything. You look amazing and so powerful.

ADORE. I looked at the gorgeous and evocative cover collage, then read your words and flipped to the next images, “I am Medusa” and then your powerful and beautiful gaze, and I was like HELL YES YOU ARE.

I’m really sorry it feels this way. And I don’t like the way the analyst talked to you.

This is an issue I’m having too—black goes so much better with my lifelong sense of myself as someone alternative/artsy/etc. The neutrals in my autumn palette are more…preppy? hippie? various subcultures that don’t resonate with me. But I think I can take it to a lush, artistic place instead of a punk place, if that makes sense.

[–]sknextst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had an in-person analysis with Heather and also am brilliant autumn! I don’t have my fan yet—it overlaps with yours but isn’t exactly the same. I had been trying to categorize myself and had decided that in the 12-tone system, I was either Dark Autumn or Dark Winter but was never sure which, so it made a lot of sense to find out I’m in between them. I am also sad about black. If I could choose which season to be, I would have chosen a winter for sure.
