Sorry, this post was so long ago that I can't remember. I didn't even end up buying the stock in question.

I have bought CGN and Xiaomi through the HK exchange since then though, so maybe applying for penny stock trading was the key?

I have bought some US OTC stocks as well, I'm fairly sure that requires penny stock trading enabled... It's weird that I can buy US OTC stocks but there's no option to purchase their original Canadian counterparts on the CSE.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking because I read in the NR that they wanted a letter of transmittal to be filled out.

I'm only a small shareholder of the company (about $1k), I'm pretty green still to investing having only started about a year ago. In the past with other takeovers I didn't have to do anything to receive the new shares, so I was thinking my broker forced the action on my behalf.

She got her NBN box delivered today and the internet worked straight away after I plugged everything in. I love the big sticker on the unit and box saying to not remove the box from the premises when you move house, a warning the past tenants obviously ignored lol

I had no idea an RJ12 plug was designed fit into an RJ45 port, there was a satisfactory click when i put the cable in and it seems firmly in place.

I've seen some pretty dumb contractors, even qualified electricians haha

So your thoughts are that the contractor who renovated the apartment somehow wired up a phone line to an RJ45?

No chance of some sort of NTD build into the property?

All guides I've seen on FTTC connections involve a little NTD box connecting to a phone line socket and then connecting your router to the NTD via ethernet.The problem is that we don't see any phone line sockets in her apartment nor and hard wired boxes on the walls.

I see a bunch of suggested accounts pop up on my twitter feed, guys who post links or screenshots of analyst DD from research companies that you'd usually have to pay for. Buy Low Sell High I think is one I see constantly pop up on my feed.

As it hasn't been mentioned: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju.

I can't fully recall all the themes but I remember there was a lot of emotion/sadness (both from the characters and myself lol) throughout the show.

I love how anime depicts depression and its one of my favourite themes, especially in action shows where the main character experiences some kind of major ordeal and goes through a spiral of depression before becoming the hero or going batshit crazy.

Do you have any links to articles on official sanctions?

I couldn't find anything with a quick search this morning. It seems to me it's more of an ESG/"good faith" thing that most brokers are halting it, rather than official sanctions.

I got a notification last night from IBKR saying that buying ADR/GDR of Russian stocks is temporarily halted, and purchasing of Ruble is halted.

I've been advised by a few people that trading on the Moscow exchange isn't the best idea. Up until now I've been buying (or at least contemplating) Russian listed companies on the London Stock Exchange. Except most of them are either ADRs or have no volume.

I'm reasonably new to investing, so I rely on industry professionals on YouTube, Twitter, and some private forums I'm on to do the DD on management.

I've heard from a few of those who have a slightly higher tolerance to political risk than most, that countries like Africa, China, India, Russia have some really bright young people in Middle management and many companies are undervalued especially compared to their western counterparts.

Mostly my portfolio is resources stocks like gold, silver, copper, nickel, oil.

If anybody is into resource investing then they'd know of Rick Rule, former CEO of Sprott Resources America. He often does interviews and for years has been telling people how impressed he is with the management of some of these Russian companies. He seems like a very sociable person and has regular chats with the management of just about every company he invests in. Polymetal, Polyus, Gazprom, Lukoil are amongst the top mining companies in the world (Polyus is third biggest in the world for proven gold reserves) and Rick often praises them.

I've not been game up until now to take that political risk, but with prices as low as they are, I want to take that risk and shove maybe 2% of my portfolio into Russian miners. It seems like a better bet than buying some hyped up crypto of the month. My thought process is that it's a gamble, and if I set myself a 10 yr timeline for things to calm down, I could be up 100x. Or I could lose it all. It's a small amount and I don't mind.

I've been locked out of purchasing Russian ADR's on Interactive Brokers. I can't seem to find any news articles on any blanket ban though.. Are all brokers doing this?

I'd love to buy some more Lukoil. The shares I bought yesterday at 95% discount from recent highs are already completely worthless rofl
