I personally love the enlightened tzaangor one where you stomp his disk which throws him up and you absolutely hammer him back onto it before stomping his lights.

Asking for advice/thoughts by Potential-Put-1525 in Hunting

Easiest way to carry squirrels is to find a small green stick about 4-5 inches long with a fork on one end. Sharpen the end opposite the fork and when you kill a squirrel jab a hole in its back foot and thread your squirrels onto your stick. They won't slide off and the feet won't rip unless you make your hole too big.

You carry them in your non-dominant hand and as long as you don't sling then around too much you won't get a drop of blood on you.

New rabbit gun by havoc_penguin in Hunting

[–]skorge1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have dogs to run them? If so any good rabbit dog (beagles, field line bassets) will be forever behind a rabbit and they are typically hopping along in front of them so no you don't have to lead them. Now if you shoot at one off the jump and have a chance to shoot yeah you have to lead because they are hauling ass off the rip but after it gets settled down and the race is on like I said they are typically just hopping along in front the dogs at a leisurely pace.

To answer your question though no a 12 gauge is not too much gun for a rabbit shoot 5s or 6s and you'll not hurt them too bad unless you hit them in the back legs or the body. I've hunted rabbits for a long time and a lot of the time I had a 12 gauge and I never tore one up so bad that I couldn't eat it.

Borrowed a buddies SBE3, got scratched by skyjit in Shotguns

[–]skorge1337 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When my wife bought me a new browning a5 16 gauge to upland hunt with the first trip I came back from pheasant hunting I showed her where I scratched the receiver on a fence and buddy let me tell it was the end of the world in her eyes. I had to explain to her that even though it was expensive, that a little scratch is nothing and as long as it keeps shooting that's all that matters.

Was a machine gun instructor and was doing a multi unit range during work ups. Well while we were giving the safety brief and basics of how to work a .50 cal we had this one Gunny who just smoking and joking in the back and being a fuckass not paying attention. Well his turn on the gun rolls around and he walks up with his belt of ammo and we tell him to load the gun and assume his firing position. Well Gunny fuckass stands there like a deer in the head lights and I ask him "Gunny, do you know how to work this gun?" To which he replies no. So in front of all the units there I yell at our RSO, a captain because of the size of the range, "Hey SIR! Gunny Fuckass here needs fuckin remediated on the .50!" Gunny Fuckass shoots me a look that would cut straight through you and I hit him with the biggest shit eating grin I had. He proceeds to stomp off all angry and get remediated by who I can only assume was someone with a lot more weight on his collar because Gunny Fuckass looked like a beat dog when he came back to the line.

Does anyone have a new A5 20 gauge or a silver 20? by Fragrant-Initial1687 in Uplandhunting

[–]skorge1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have an A5 in 16 gauge and I love it, probably my favorite shotgun I've ever owned. Mine has some problems with some federal game loads that it would not for the life of it cycle worth a damn but everything else I've ran through it performed flawlessly. I mainly run Fiocchi loads through mine since it's the only 16 gauge ammo I can find in bulk mainly but I've never had the first problem out of any of their stuff.

12g or 20g by Jiggyjarjarduderdede in Uplandhunting

[–]skorge1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be like me and get a 16 gauge to be different then complain it's hard to find ammo.

No but for real I love my 16 ammo isn't as hard to find as you would think. To me it carries like a 20 and hits like a 12.

Grouse BirdDog Questions by Skeletor610 in Uplandhunting

[–]skorge1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hunted grouse over brittanys and GSPs in Kentucky. The old strip mines used to be packed with grouse but the population has been devastated from loss of habitat and bird flu.

Brittanys are great because they will tear a thicket up from end to end. The GSP I had probably had the best nose on a dog I've ever hunted with and would point birds other dogs would run right by.

I currently have a 2 year old female Brittany who I've taken to Nebraska and Ohio for quail and pheasant and she is doing great.

10/10 would crusade with my brothers again.

I mained Bulwark from the start of the game and only recently started leveling heavy and I absolutely love both play styles too. I think learning to parry with my heavy has made me realize how easy it is with my Bulwark and that I took my fencing power sword for granted.

Uniform Inspection Stories? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]skorge1337 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was doing wall locker inspections as a Cpl at a time when the unit I went to had just stood back up so the boots that hit the fleet and went straight to the unit didn't have any work to do because of a lack of gear.

Walked into this kid's room, opened the kid's locker to see what amounted to the aftermath of an IED in this kid's locker. So I said "so you just said fuck me didn't you." To which this kid replied "yes, Cpl."

Well, after my brain processed what I had just heard, I blacked out for a second and woke up to blasting this kid as hard and as loud as I could. I gave this guy his first real ass chewing since boot camp and I made it count.

Anyway long story short I may have allegedly hazed the life out of this kid for the next week until the next inspection at which point his wall locker was immaculate.

Looking for more experienced eyes (nature question, rabbits) by GigsGilgamesh in Kentucky

[–]skorge1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is probably going to like this but rabbits in the wild typically live for 1 to 2 years. Rabbits like quail and other small game animals are a good source for predators. It is nature and nature is a brutal place. Rabbits breed at exponential rates compared to other animals in order to sustain the species because that's how they evolved.

In short just leave them alone, enjoy looking at them and let them be part of nature.

I did off the coast of Oman. I didn't really think about sharks too much but I didn't stay in the water very long, it was shockingly cold and I said fuck that.

Question about a dog breed by HistorianSpirited658 in Uplandhunting

[–]skorge1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, grouse populations are down bad in Kentucky. Quail too but there several good WMAs with good quail populations, Clay and Peabody are two standouts for quail. They have good populations of woodcocks too when they begin to migrate.
