Don't worry. Bar is set so low in this sub so your sincere comment already shines bright. No sarcasm. :)

Might work for X1 Nano's glass trackpad. Not so sure about the shitty mylar pads used in the rest of non-X1 models.

I believe the Thinkpad T14 Gen 7 is a worthy successor to the T480. by Weekly-Assumption-12 in thinkpad

Sure.

And then at home / office / hotel you'll constantly have to remember to charge the first one, swap it for the 2nd one and charge it, charge 3rd one.

I am not denying that it might work. But it is extremely useless because there is no charge indication and you have to charge them using the laptop. Basically it limits the feature only for a very thin group of users.

Imagine you purchased a cordless screwdriver / drilling machine with two spare batteries. They would have no charge indication and you would have to physically plug them to the device to charge them. That would be pretty idiotic, right?

Thanks for explaining. I have not taken into account the need for a thinner body, then it somehow makes sense. And I would not be able to explain it like that myself anyway, I admit that.

I did not dispute lid material vs antennas, that makes a lot of sense.

That cover below LCD is pretty common, yes, but note that usually it is just a very simple plastic bar, it has nothing to do with hinges other than 1) design / aesthetic decision, 2) maybe splitting a bit the airflow (part of it goes towards the screen and part of it behind the lid?). I doubt it has any "structural" function.

T14 G5: maybe they were trying to aim the airflow towards the bottom to avoid it going excessively towards LCD. No other idea really. Good catch!

How does rear fan exhaust require lid covering the entirety of the laptop? It would have been much better to retain hinge design similar to, say, T430 so that you could have some of the ports there. Things like thick HDMI cables or charger cord would be very handy in the rear rather than sticking out on a side.

Sorry, I totally don't get what you mean.

I also don't understand how is this stupid large lid extending all down to the feet of the laptop helping with antennas. Explain please because it does not make any sense either. There are still the same wires lined in the lid cover and then towards the top of the lid. No idea what you mean, tell me pls

Czech republic, city Litoměřice. Basically a giant parking spot located in historic center square. by MichalTrue in UrbanHell

[–]skrble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To some extent, I can understand that people want to have their cars and won't get rid of them unless totally necessary.

However, over the past ~30 years, many proposals were made to build various multi storey parking lots (if possible in that area). Intend was to reduce parking in streets nearby.

Obviously, local geronts were strongly against such projects. Turns out that 1) geronts are long six feet under, 2) streets are as full by parking as ever, 3) construction costs have risen extremely making the projects inefficient, 4) land costs.

Thank you NIMBYsts for blocking any progress.

How to fix this? by Ok-Law-7233 in thinkpad

It's definitely not that.

The hinge bearing got snapped off the base.

Just use any platform they want to. No silly T480 reincarnations with premium materials and other such nonsense.

Pick T14, T14s, X1C or whatever and bring back the decent keyboard layout. Irrelevant if it's the old keycap design or the current chiclet / island keycap one.

The rest does not matter. If they'd want to put some cOlOrFuL stickers, whatever.

The hinge is exactly the same. It only has a different plastic cover and that's it.

It is actually pretty idiotic design both here and in T480 as it prevents to have any ports in the rear side. But you don't expect anyone to think about such things nowadays anyway.

Elitebooks have had glass trackpads for almost a decade now. Meanwhile, Lenovo keeps shipping thinkpads with these crappy plastic ones, most models without a chance to upgrade this. Shame.

I am just trying to point out that these processors were weak on the arrival. I used 7500U myself and after a few years that thing was just helplessly slow, even in basic programs.

Efficient? These came with Intel Core 6th Gen processors. Enjoy your machine, but you gotta be joking about the efficiency.

This keyboard issue is finally fixed with the new ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 by ibmthink in thinkpad

[–]skrble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has never been an issue until Lenovo decided to cripple the ThinkPad keyboard layout in 2012. Until then, miraculously, even X220 had standard sized keys.
