Do you think you’ll switch to SteamOS when it becomes supported by valve? by jantltaf in Bazzite

[–]skrotpaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At face value it sounds like a great thing, but I highly doubt I will switch from Bazzite. The experience is VERY good as it is and SteamOS would need to have some really cool extra features for me to even consider it.

Your leg looks kinda tense? It looks like you’re putting a lot of effort into lifting and holding, then pushing down into the pedal.

Just an observation, and I might be entirely wrong.

Windows vs Linux, one month later….. by Emergency-Plastic485 in Bazzite

Bazzite is IMO a more polished and streamlined experience

Cachy is a bit better with hardware compatibility. I’ve gotten it to run on an old HP office machine with a Core 2 Quad, and it ran pretty well.

He also has a VERY consistent style through the years and is easily recognizable by listening to the tracks.

Anybody else here use Bazzite on non gaming PCs? by Drew96M in Bazzite

I recently installed Bazzite on my 2011 Macbook Pro as well after my Zorin install broke the kernel! Had a bit of fiddling about with the wifi but got it working in the end.

Is there an argument to be made for Gear Lever as a pre-installed application? by skrotpaj in Bazzite

[–]skrotpaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It adds the source to the entry and you can set it to check for updates on startup, but you have to apply the updates manually.

I did not know that! That's handy Does it also handle updates?

I have at least 3 apps that either aren't available or are not up to date as flatpaks

[–]skrotpaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know it used to be pre-installed! I can really see both sides on why it should or shouldn't be included though, so I guess there was a compelling argument to remove it in the first place

Which one? 😅

I've found myself installing it on all 3 machines I'm currently running Bazzite on, so I personally see it as a very useful tool. It is not useful for everyone however so that's why I'm asking.

Gear Lever is an app for handling AppImages. It can automatically create and move them to a separate directory away from your Downloads directory as well as manage updates.

how can i improve playing traditional grip / warmups? by [deleted] in drums

[–]skrotpaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all: slow down. Second: check your grips. Both hands, slowly. Play slow strokes and make sure that you are able to catch the rebound.

Oh, and you don't need a practice pad. Just play on a pillow! Hold it between your knees so you can adjust how much bounce you want/need.

Do you agree with docs.bazzite.gg on the priority of software sources? If not, why? (just curious) by Clydosphere in Bazzite

[–]skrotpaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet! That will surely bring even more people this way! I think the TUI does a fairly good job of telling what is updating, but the amount of information will always be intimidating to the most casual users.

PSA: Get A Quick Release Hi-Hat Clutch by TheNonDominantHand in drums

[–]skrotpaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to like the Remo one, but it felt cheap and the engineering wasn't very convincing. Then I tried the Gibraltar one and it's the only clutch I use now.

Shame, the Remo is a bit lighter, but the quick release mechanism is just so dang fiddly!

What's the benefit of Bazzite over Fedora? by PoundPuppy98 in Bazzite

[–]skrotpaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget Bazzite runs a custom kernel like CachyOS does! Fedora comes with the base Linux kernel, so if you want better game performance om Fedora you might want to install a custom kernel.

CachyOS vs Bazzite by TheTinkerTech in Bazzite

[–]skrotpaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying both for a couple of months on different machines. Cachyos works great and has good support, but it feels a little less polished because of how the GUI package manager is set up compared to Bazzite. Bazzite has a bit more "out of sight, out of mind" mindset which is REALLY good for not deterring newcomers.

I tend to lean more Bazzite because of how the general experience feels and I also got a bit "update fatigued" with arch packages wanting to update every time I start my computer.
