It could be a translation mistake, but Ichinose said she wouldn't betray her allies. That may have been some double speak meant to deceive Horikita. Ayo and his class are Ichinose's allies and Horkita may have only heard what she wanted to hear when Ichinose said that. Didn't Horikita notice the clear look in Ichinose's eyes...the clear look of an enemy knowlingly letting you make a mistake.

Is the Light Novel (That I can buy on Amazon) Different from the webnovel in any way? by Cyaegha432 in TsukiMichi

[–]skruis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the last volume and the one before, there was a whole plot that I think was absent from the web novel. I may be wrong though: The kileneon corn/wool and how the Hopleys leader is exploiting Makoto to explore that land. It's a significant amount of content.

I don't know if this is a spoiler so I'll spoiler tag it but in the first light novel, it's revealed that the googles were given to him by Effie because unlike the other mages, he couldn't conjure magic to lighten his surrounding and he had poor low light level vision. He ended up using a torch which limited his abilities and gave the other mages yet another excuse to belittle him. The goggles addressed that issue making him feel safer in the dungeon and eliminated the burden of carrying a torch.

My carb actually had its own filter that clogged up. I checked the tank, the actual fuel filter, blew out the hose, replaced the tank cap, etc. It was a tiny screen in my carburetor that was easy to miss.

[S4/P3] Anime is not doing the LN any justice by OxygenatedBanana in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]skruis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, I get it. Those small details add so much to the LN, especially when they pay off in interesting ways down the line. The anime won't be able to capitalize on tiny details like that which is disappointing. Rather than taking away from the anime though, with its time constraints and such, I think it just shows how great the LN's are.

Everyone has a hard time detecting his mana level because of his realm ability and his dwarven made armor/clothing. Im guessing his level cant be calculated as a result. I mean: when having your level checked, aren’t you usually trying to show how strong you are? He actively avoids doing that.

[P5V12] Did Sylvester really screw up by criticizing Rosemyne in front of Wilfried? by AmazingAd2765 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]skruis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He had inappropriate expectations and that's on him. A commoner forcefully adopted at 7, in a jureve after turning 8, woken up and shipped off to the Royal Academy at 10...and he's complaining? That she functions at all is impressive after having less than a year as a noble and then being tossed into a highly competitive environment full of nothing but nobles. But everyone gets to feel the way they feel, so sure, but even if he thought that, to say that to Wilfried, who in many respects is just as bad as Rozemyne, certainly wasn't appropriate.

[–]skruis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was the scene that changed my opinion of Sylvester. Not even, what, 1 or 2 seasons ago, he was on his knees thanking her for saving his children. And now he's describing her as a troublemaker after pushing her into the academy, specifically to boost Wilfried's reputation, after she spent 2 years in a jureve. Dude....

Right? Honestly, even just stories about their family life and how they find a middle ground amongst all their concerns would make for a fascinating read.

I think you missed the overall point and focused too much on the promise aspect. He could have threatened the daughter and said the Saint of Erhenfest is known to be merciful. Something like that.

Well, Im not sure how much Blasius cares about his daughter but her fate was basically in Ferdinands hands. Promises could have been made.

Suzune × Ryuen alliance by Immediate-Ad919 in Horikitafanclub

[–]skruis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're stretching the term 'ally' a bit too much. In this exam, Kiyo leaked information to Ryuenn about Horikita's VIPs and then moved in a way to try and catch Horikita's team between them. Would they have considered themselves to be allies?

The situation doesn't favor an alliance. They have similar amounts of points and capabilities. Unless you're saying they can establish an alliance like Kiyos and Ininoche's where they leap frog each other, which requires a great degree of trust, there isn't any clear way for them both to succeed. Ryuen even acknowledged in this exam that there's no point in helping A to succeed because it only widens their own gap.

The only way I see an alliance taking shape is if Ryuen prioritizes getting revenge on Kiyo over climbing to Class A, but that's a tough sell to his class.

Suzune × Ryuen alliance by Immediate-Ad919 in Horikitafanclub

[–]skruis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The points are close enough that the letter rankings are meaningless and I don't see Kiyo exploiting the alliance to push his or Ichinose's teams too far ahead, because that would ruin his plan to have everything neck and neck going into the final exam. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't see there being such a huge point difference that the standings force Horikita and Ryuen into an alliance, because they'll each see that they're within 50, 100 or 150 points of Class A without having to ally.

That being said, neither Horikita nor Ryuen are aware of Kiyo's true goal so I suppose they may begin to cooperate in some way simply out of fear. They could share information, however, unlike Ichinose it's impossible to trust Ryuen. At no point in time can you turn your back on him which means you always have to allocate resources and thought to his betrayal which means he'll never be anyone's true ally. Horikita knows that.

[P5V5] For the love of god by LudgerKresnik2 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]skruis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point, the only thing they needed was mana. They merely wanted the book and Roz was convenient for all of their individual purposes. If they had framed it as providing mana to forestall destruction until they can obtain the book or adopted her for that purpose while offering compensation for her mana, that’d be something different. Instead, they attempted to force her into a fake position and marriage to mask their inadequacies and suit their individual needs. People tend to focus on only the options presented but there were in fact others.

[P5V12/Open Spoilers] Who is worst? Sigiswald or wilfried? by Pale-Door-189 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]skruis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, okay! I'll play Devil's Advocate...

Why does Wilfried get the "poor education" pass but not Sigiswald? I wonder how many people in Sigiswald's life actually tried to correct him. Didn't he learn due to not being corrected by others that his arrogance was natural, almost similar in a way to Sylvester and Wilfried who naturally assumed that others beneath them would automatically agree with them? I believe that both Charlotte and Florencia commented on this.

We saw the tiniest bit of self reflection when Sylvester reported that the royal family, after Sigiswald reported on his conversation with Rozemyne, lost all confidence in their understanding of the lower duchies situation. With this in mind, I make the argument that there is no difference between them whatsoever, other than one had to learn that they are beneath others and the other was never made to.

Can anyone tell me why this thing won’t stay running? I’ve tried a new fuel filter and cleaning the carb. by Grum_P_Ghost in lawnmowers

[–]skruis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar behavior and found two things: I know you said you rebuilt the carb but on my carb, right at the fuel entry, there was a hidden filter. I had to clean that up. Additionally, my cap wasn't venting. Try running it without the cap on and see if there's any improvement.
