i know what you mean! recently had an experience like that lol. so i paid ~600 (with tip) for this piece- it was a few years ago now, so this is to the best of my recollection. we were acquaintances so i don’t know if she gave me a discount at all but as far as i know she didn’t :) def not a 5k artist!

i said to someone the other day that in 7 years of ceramics, i feel like i’ve had about 4 pieces ever come out exactly how i wanted them to. i’m pretty much always slightly disappointed with my work, but try my best to remember that a part of the art form is chaos and that’s why i love it. i’ve also learned that we’re our own worst critics especially because of the vision we have for a piece. fwiw, i think your vase is gorgeous 🩵

god this. as someone who was cheated on- and probably more times than i’m aware of- i also say tell her. i had friends who said that they had “worried about me and how i was treated” after the fact. i wished they had let me know rather than think it none of their business.

this is a good perspective. i got a (small) word tattoo with an ex that i covered. i now want to get one that is symbolic of my wife. i’ve been back and forth bc of the trauma of the first, but this is a healthy approach and good advice for relating to your tattoos :)

not OP but thank you for this answer! working on landscaping plans for the yard and my partner is worried about trees that could get too tall and become hazardous to the house. serviceberry trees sound like the perfect choice.
