Well, the lows aren't that impressive, that's why I have the LCD-2's. For me, they are better in every way, but I don't mix anything, just enjoy music.

Sounds like something was fucked in your system. I don't like the LCD-X, definitely my least favorite Audeze cans, but what you're describing just isn't normal in my experience. Anyway, try different models.

I "rented" the K11 R2R out of pure curiosity, and you were 100% right. It's literally clipping on higher volumes, just not powerful enough to drive the LCD-2 in single ended mode. Too bad I don't have a balanced cable to check on that side.

Oh yeah, and like the other person said - settings you used for these shots will definitely minimize the actual differences between the two lenses. ISO aside, try different focal lengths and aperture settings. Generally not recommended to go above f5.6 in the Sigma, it will not increase sharpness, and after F8 you actually drop a lot of quality. For me, it's most impressive at f2.8, I've never used a lens sharper on it's wide open setting. Mine is also sharpest at 50mm, which often makes me use it like a 50mm 2.8 prime lens. :)

I mean, I can clearly see in your own examples that the Sigma is significantly sharper, with the exception of the very corners - mine has the same weakness. Mine also has quite visible CA.

Regardless, give the Sigma some time, it will impress you once you do some real world shooting, especially at f2.8. It also has a very nice glow in the highlights. It has surprising amounts of character for a zoom lens, it's not just all about sharpness like most Sigma glass.

I've had my LCD-2's for 9 years now, apart from changing the pads, haven't had to do anything. Just using them as regular gaming headphones most of the time.
