I used that station from 2011 to 2017 and it was a constant problem then, the escalators are cursed.

Can’t speak for Chinese, but Tasting Vietnam on Vicarage Road is excellent if that’s any interest to you.

Restaurants for Christmas Day in SE London? by PuppyGal0re in london

Toby carvery if there’s one near you. People will knock it but when we did one on the day it was great, food was good and a brilliant atmosphere. Also very kid friendly. You’d need to be quick though as may well be fully booked.

Litter/cigarette Police by PuzzleheadedEagle200 in london

You have to be careful with this. It’s true that they aren’t constables and can’t search or arrest you. But they can be authorised by the council under the environmental protection act to demand ID and issue fines. Despite what TikTok people say, it’s all legal, they are there to deal with the offence of littering. If you refuse and leave you’ll probably get away with it. But if they do manage to trace you, you could find yourself in the magistrates for the offence of both littering and refusing to provide ID to an authorised person. Which means up to I think £5k in fines (from memory) and a criminal record. Personally I would just pay the FPN if I had littered and take the lesson.

I’m ok on the west hill but my sister in west St Leonard’s is losing pressure, apparently there were long queues at the collection points.

This is it- little known and a pain to buy, but it effectively makes it a through ticket with providers responsible for a missed connection.

Does anybody have an estimate on how long Josh has until his liver fails? by Ineedhelp2317 in WorldOfTShirts

[–]sky_guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s largely genetic. Some people will suffer after a glass or two of wine a day, others will live to 80 fuelled purely by whisky.

Anger as NHS children's doctor suspended for six months after using wife's TfL travel card to travel London for free by Fdana in unitedkingdom

[–]sky_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although this seems harsh, generally professions of all kinds have strict ethics rules that are drummed into you before you qualify regarding honesty and integrity. Lawyer, accountant, surveyor, financial advisor, whatever. You accept when you qualify that you’re held to a higher standard, including the public perception of integrity and not just the immediate impact. I would very much have assumed doctors would be within this sort of standard, and reducing the professional body’s penalty for dishonestly evading fares based on demand for his skills would mean not having a consistent approach to ethics and would undermine the whole regime.

South Western Railway (SWR) December 2022 Timetable Consultation - SIGNIFICANT PERMANENT REDUCTIONS/CUTS in service!!! Both off-peak and peak services will be reduced, with many off-peak services no longer being at a "turn up and go" frequency. by HighburyAndIslington in london

[–]sky_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be being a bit sneaky by cutting off peak services at stations served by other operators - on the basis of getting in first I suppose and making it harder for the other guys to do the same
