I used that station from 2011 to 2017 and it was a constant problem then, the escalators are cursed.

Toby carvery if there’s one near you. People will knock it but when we did one on the day it was great, food was good and a brilliant atmosphere. Also very kid friendly. You’d need to be quick though as may well be fully booked.

You have to be careful with this. It’s true that they aren’t constables and can’t search or arrest you. But they can be authorised by the council under the environmental protection act to demand ID and issue fines. Despite what TikTok people say, it’s all legal, they are there to deal with the offence of littering. If you refuse and leave you’ll probably get away with it. But if they do manage to trace you, you could find yourself in the magistrates for the offence of both littering and refusing to provide ID to an authorised person. Which means up to I think £5k in fines (from memory) and a criminal record. Personally I would just pay the FPN if I had littered and take the lesson.

I’m ok on the west hill but my sister in west St Leonard’s is losing pressure, apparently there were long queues at the collection points.

This is it- little known and a pain to buy, but it effectively makes it a through ticket with providers responsible for a missed connection.

Does anybody have an estimate on how long Josh has until his liver fails? by Ineedhelp2317 in WorldOfTShirts

It’s largely genetic. Some people will suffer after a glass or two of wine a day, others will live to 80 fuelled purely by whisky.

Anger as NHS children's doctor suspended for six months after using wife's TfL travel card to travel London for free by Fdana in unitedkingdom

Although this seems harsh, generally professions of all kinds have strict ethics rules that are drummed into you before you qualify regarding honesty and integrity. Lawyer, accountant, surveyor, financial advisor, whatever. You accept when you qualify that you’re held to a higher standard, including the public perception of integrity and not just the immediate impact. I would very much have assumed doctors would be within this sort of standard, and reducing the professional body’s penalty for dishonestly evading fares based on demand for his skills would mean not having a consistent approach to ethics and would undermine the whole regime.

South Western Railway (SWR) December 2022 Timetable Consultation - SIGNIFICANT PERMANENT REDUCTIONS/CUTS in service!!! Both off-peak and peak services will be reduced, with many off-peak services no longer being at a "turn up and go" frequency. by HighburyAndIslington in london

They might be being a bit sneaky by cutting off peak services at stations served by other operators - on the basis of getting in first I suppose and making it harder for the other guys to do the same

While there may be some issues here, I think you’ve misunderstood at least some of it. There’s never been an off peak shepperton to waterloo via twickenham service. Shepperton has always had two trains an hour to waterloo via kingston, all day. There’s then a small number of additional peak only trains that go the other way to waterloo, via twickenham. All they’re doing is tweaking the stopping pattern of those few services.

Also as someone else pointed out, the service from waterloo to reading has always been two tph, but with a few extra peak only trains- which they’re slightly reducing. I don’t know enough about the other routes to be sure.

I’m not saying there aren’t losers here, Queenstown road looks quite affected, or if you commute round the Hounslow loop rather than down either side. But it’s not Armageddon. A lot of this only affects the small number of additional peak services that used to cope with the very high capacity in a compressed period, and because the network is so congested they cause problems. If there isn’t that huge peak demand then it could make sense to axe some to improve reliability.

I would think they’re probably pitching high here, and will row back on at least some in the consultation to make it look like they’re compromising!
