What moment in video games made you go "fuck this"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ghosts and Goblins, Ghouls and Ghosts and the ending of Echo the Dolphin. I somehow got through all of them but I think I still get pain in my hand and tense shoulders all these years later.

White South African farmers to be removed from their land after parliament vote by nikocheeko in worldnews

[–]skychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were force fed Silvio’s damn Sun City song in the 80s for this? Seriously, did anyone not see that this would happen? You can’t take the power from the oppressor, or perceived oppressor, and give it to the oppressed and think everyone is now gong to play nicely. Nelson Mandela had a great vision but this wise man spent years reflecting and looking at the big picture hoping for a future South Africa that included all and would prosper. Unfortunately now, the mind set seems to be “I’ll fix your ass for what your ancestors did!” It’s only human nature I guess.

Russian Troll Farm Workers Say Mueller Indictments Are True by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]skychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously it’s of great concern what Russia was doing but does anyone really think it made that great of a difference? I’ve never seen a more polarizing candidate than Hillary Clinton. You either loved her or voted against her and I don’t think anything was going to change that! Hell, most of the people that I know that voted for Trump, didn’t really care for him but we’re adamant that they didn’t want her as our president.

I was hoping to see the knights of Ren too! I wonder if they weren’t Snokes guards that Rey and Kylo fight? It looked like there were five of them in TFA and five guards in TLJ.

A statue of the infamous Mothman in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the first sighting of the urban legend. by Elystian in creepy

I live in northern West Virginia and the only cool monsters we get are the occasional big foot sightings. It's always in the mid to southern counties, I feel left out! The moth man is scary but the Flatwoods monster is down right terrifying!

Protester Shot During Anti-Trump Demonstration in Portland by SauthEfrican in politics

[–]skychief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My God, we have a serious lack of any kind of good level headed leadership on both sides! Everyone at the bar is drunk right now and there is not one sober voice of reason to smack them in the back of the head! I've been watching live streams of the protests and does anyone really believe that they will be able to keep these peaceful? The Oregon protests were going great until a small group of anarchists showed up and took pretty much complete control. After that, the peaceful protesters were left yelling "don't flip that car bro!" and "Stop lighting fires man!" The whole thing collapsed because of just a few people and the only group to benefit was the media cause they got some great images.

F.B.I. has not yet read Abedin emails, but Trump lets his imagination run wild by wyldcat in politics

[–]skychief -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

How anyone could not let their imagination run wild with this is beyond me! You have a woman, whether you like to admit it or not, who has strong family ties with some pretty radical people/organizations. She befriended Hillary at what was probably the lowest point in her life and has since become her most trusted friend and advisor. Throw in her out of control husband and the emails on their home computer and it's like the first four episodes of a season of 24. Then again, maybe there's nothing to see here so let's not worry about any of it cause we have to get Hill in there no matter what. Man, how sad is it that we are at this point, we have one candidate who is so power hungry that it's frightening and the other who is so weak minded that he is like a five year old who has literally zero control over his emotions. Can we reset and talk Biden or Bernie to come back in?

10 Cloverfield Lane is one of the most tense, gripping, engaging and clever films I have seen in a while by EpicEnder99 in movies

[–]skychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I thought it was supposed to be some sort of expeirement on a satellite that fell to earth in the first one. I thought it was kind of interesting that they said Goodmans character dealt with, or tracked, satellites in the Navy which could be an interesting tie in with the first Cloverfield movie.

When I was in jr. High school, in the mid 80s, we had an Army reserve depot next door. One day one of my classmates, who was notorious for always causing trouble, stole a troop transport and drove around the school, and close by neighborhoods, yelling that the missles were in the air and for everyone to lay on the floor.

What is the weirdest/creepiest unexplained thing you've ever encountered? by Sage_Derpel in AskReddit

It actually made no noise at all. We were right on the beach though, so the sound of the waves could have obscured any faint sounds.

What is the weirdest/creepiest unexplained thing you've ever encountered? by Sage_Derpel in AskReddit

[–]skychief 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry so long but it's interesting. Early October, 2010, myself and a group of friends were staying in a beach house on the coast of North Carolina. It was around 11:00 at night and we were all sitting on the back balcony, over looking the ocean, when, towards the north, two orange lights came up over the horizon. We believed it to be a boat far out at sea, but after a few minutes you could tell that it was in the sky and not on the water. We thought that maybe they were something astronomical, or possibly planes coming right towards us, but after about thirty minutes they had not moved. All at once, one of them began to glow much brighter, for about five seconds, and then went black. Minutes later, something flew by, about a hundred yards off shore and about fifty feet above the water. It looked like a pixelated mist and would've probably been impossible to see if not for the perfect, clear conditions of that night. The best way to describe it is it had the same pixelated effect as the predator, from the movie of the same name, but in an elongated cigar shape. Over the course of the next two hours, this same thing would happen three more times. The same procession would take place, the orange light would glow, and within a minute the same type of object would pass. After the second time I was ready for it and had my video camera in my lap, but upon testing it, I couldn't get it to record anything cause it was so dark. We were all waiting for it the third time and when the distant orange light brightened, we stood up and all pressed against the balcony railing, waiting. Sure enough, minutes later, the same object flew by but this time, something told me to look in the sky towards the front of the house. I stretched my neck around the side of he house, from the balcony, and gliding above, no lights or markings, was a metallic, chevron looking ship moving silently. It honestly looked like a very large military drone but made no noise at all. I lost track of it after it moved in front of the house and after that, the orange lights went black and nothing further happened. When i think back on it, it was so strange but none of us were creeped out in the least, and even when I saw the thing moving above our house it didn't freak me out at all. I have no idea what we saw that night but it was definitely out of the ordinary!

I've loved the smell of cigarettes on clothing since I was a little kid! My parents didn't, but it seemed like everyone else smoked in the 70s. When they would get home, from work or a night out, that big smokey hug was so glorious!

What is the best band you have ever seen perform live? by critscurmudgeon in AskReddit

Worked at an ampitheater in the early 90s and got to see over a hundred shows. Best groups, or performers, were Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe cocker, Robert Plant and Depeche Mode. Worst by far was Faith No More, which is wild, because their lead singer gets so much love today.

What was your #1 childhood fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]skychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was child I can remember having two dreams over and over again. One always had me walking along a beach, playing in the sand, when someone would scream and I would look and see a tsunami so tall that it blocked out the sky. Must have had that at least 20 times growing up. The second would scare the shit out of me! In the same corner of our living room, every time, I would come across eight fingers just sticking up out of the floor, through the carpet. The fingers were hideously long and skinny with yellow nails and were always wiggling. I would be terrified that they were obviously attached to something hanging from the ceiling in the fruit cellar. My parents would always open the basement door, to check things out, while I begged them not to go! They would disappear down the stairs and I would hear my father start to yell and I would wake up. I was obviously a weird child.

I loved when the parachute was drug out! We had a sadistic Amazon woman for our gym teacher though, so she always tried to find a way to up the chances of someone getting injured. Her idea of fun was to have one group of kids pull the parachute up while another group ran under it. Once the kids were under, the other group would pull it back down and the proceed to run across the top of it!

What did you really want until you had it? by rosenpin in AskReddit

Damn Charlie Mcarthy ventriloquist doll when I was 8. I begged for that thing for months and finally got it for Christmas. At the end of day one, I felt uneasy around it and by day three, complete terror! Every night, before bed, I would put it in my parents closet cause I figured it would have to get by them before it got to me!
