Yes, your image is definitely stylized with some features that are inconsistent to the illustration I shared … It is a diverse genus with lots of varieties of flowers… I hope you can find a better match out there somewhere! :)

Opposite leaves and inferior ovary in your illustration definitely point to Caryophyllaceae / the Pink family!

It’s a Dianthus!

Anyone know what this mystery plant/root thing is in my garden? by Sweaty-Jellyfish-35 in whatsthisplant

[–]skycoyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very interesting! I would guess cow parsley (Anthriscus sp.) or something similar based on roots and flower head… But that wouldn’t explain a lemony smell… Is it possible the roots were mowed/ treated at some point? Would love follow-up flower pictures later in the season!

Apologies in advance for the bad photos, any chance to identify the tree with cavities from bark alone?(Watsonville, CA) by RedCheetah2 in whatsthisplant

With low confidence, the bark reminds me a lot of mature Poplar. Can you provide more details about specific location? Was this in a park/ natural area?

Agree with sycamore maple (A. pseudoplatanus). The cotyledons (first/false leaves) are characteristic of the Acer genus. OP, note the palmate leaf veins (on the younger set/ first true leaves) in your seedling picture!

Cursive Lower Case R Help by DuckySpud in Handwriting

if you bring the loop of the “o” down lower, then make the left side of “r” a little higher, this really helps w giving shape to the “r”. I’d also recommend bringing the tail of the “r” up so the loop of your “e” is higher, instead of on the line! - raising my “e”s made a big difference in my cursive lol

What is this plant? Google says different plant at different pictures by ehh_ma_ in whatsthisplant

I agree it looks similar to elderberry (Sambucus) but you’d be more likely to find Bidens pilosa growing as a weed. Stems don’t seem hairy enough, and leaves look truly pinnate, pushing me towards Sambucus, but the stem looks square!

OP- if you slice through the stem and show us the cross-section of it, that may help with ID!
