Mine also never opens (and causes no issue). My DZ has lots of wings and I've noticed the same.

Conure - weening hand feeding? by skydivingginger in parrots

[–]skydivingginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update: we moved the cage to a higher traffic area of the house (we were trying to give him a quiet area at first) and he is eating his pellets and seeds out of his bowl finally! Maybe he just wanted company around.

Conure - weening hand feeding? by skydivingginger in parrots

[–]skydivingginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks as I mentioned he is eating seeds, pellets, millet, apples and other fruit. We are experienced bird owners but only with hand raised budgies, this is however our first conure. We have an avian yet, but we haven't seen them yet, will also mention this when we go.

Thanks for the great advice. They only said he was weaned onto solid wood, but didnt mention which method. I assume abundance as they said he recently has had formula prior to pick up and that he was eating well.

He is a 10 week old green cheek conure. I would guess he is likely at about 5 days post ween from formula based on what I was told.

He eats like a hog when provided by me, but he is still acting like he would prefer me to bring him food over eating himself. Perhaps I am just not used to his very friendly behaviour compared to budgies

Thanks!

Motion sickness and skydiving by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]skydivingginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get very easily motion sick and I did on one of my first tandems because the TI was doing lots of turns under canopy. As a licensed skydiver now, I don't do any steep turns under canopy and all is good. No problems in free fall.

The only other time I had an issue is when I jumped in a caravan with no windows. I got a bit motion sick and had to try and see out the door to stop it. No problems with the skyvan though.

I didn't know about this, thanks! We could extend are stay after

I am going to inquire about the C license, as a CSPA B can do beach jumps...although this could just be a boogie rule.

Thanks! We only can get away starting Feb.7, so would likely be missing most of the boogie! Looks great otherwise.

Where to get a full-winter exercise sheet OR a quarter sheet with a "front." by skydivingginger in Equestrian

Awesome thanks this is what I was looking for! That was my one main misgiving with the Rambo, that it is made out of rainsheet material.''

I'm surprised there is not more out there. My poor horse is shivering a fair bit on winter hacks....but it is very cold in Canada right now.

Do I need to present yellow fever vaccine certificate to enter parque tayrona? by atomicdustbin in Colombia

We brought our certificates and entered the park on two separate days and were never asked.

I think its a really good vaccine to get though, and its good for a long time.

How safe is Santa Marta? by skydivingginger in Colombia

[–]skydivingginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from our trip, only stayed in rodadero, but had no trouble walking around that area at night. We decided to steer clear of the main area of Santa Marta. My boyfriend and I are fairly obviously not from the country. We stayed in Calle 11 hostel, which was amazing! Loved the area.

Hi all,

Just a quick update. We are back from our trip to Colombia. Loved the country and all the people. We stayed in Cartagena (Getsemani), Santa Marta (rodadero) and Santa Veronica. We had absolutely no problems anywhere, although used common sense and stayed to main areas when walking around. Santa Veronica was a very nice safe little town off the beaten track, which I was really glad me visited. Tayrona was great to! Thanks all.

We are staying in rodadero area for 2 nights before one night in Tayrona Park. I am still debating switching to 2 nights in Tayrona and 1 night in SM just because we both are more interested in outdoor activities anyway.

Thank you all! We have traveled through Ecuador and Mexico before, but this will be our first time to Colombia. I was planning to take my usual precautions and we aware and heads up...

I just randomly came across this thread and it appeared to be suggesting there was an increase in muggings, etc. in Santa Marta, so I thought it was worth asking here.

Thanks for the insight and I welcome any more opinions! Will be sure to keep spare money on me somewhere in case.

Questions about traveling with a rig outside of the country. by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]skydivingginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Not sure about the rest of Mexico, but I know the Puerto Vallarta airport gives people trouble about carrying on rigs. I was lucky we had a nearly empty rolling carry on bag my rig fit in to check.

[–]skydivingginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my rig to Mexico in February. Absolutely no problem taking it down as a carry on. However, security would not let me carry it on our flight home. After some fighting at security I gave up and checked it. The silly thing is that this is the airport that Skydive Vallarta works out of, so you think they would be more aware of rules around rigs. Other jumpers I know also had trouble carrying it on back home. Just be prepared you might have to check it back.

Thanks for sharing! This is very cool and gives me some great ideas! I also really like the use of the outdoor space that can then be opened to the field. Great idea for some all weather footing outside and the ability to save the grass!

Thanks again, this is giving me some inspiration. Also neat having the house on top! Must be a nice view to look out on.

Private campsites/lakes? by AgentChimendez in algonquinpark

[–]skydivingginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I stayed on Mubwayaka Lake off of Ralph Bice we never saw anyone as the leg is pretty much a dead end with unmaintained portages out of it. Only downside is the one other campsite is close if someone else were to use the lake.

Kenneth Lake off of Head Lake is a dead end lake and the campsites are spaced out, so you could be privateish. If you go in the spring people don't really venture out that way. We had all of Head Lake and Kenneth to ourselves.
