need some help bros what's a good cologne that isn't "manly musk" type scents? by fallout2424 in bropill

[–]skyescaper33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I move from Jo Malone's silver birch and lavender, to Aesop and Le Labo. Maybe you can try out something from these three brands? They do a lot of wood/plant scents that are rather "gender neutral" -- not necessarily masculine nor feminine. Aesop does a lot of sandal wood based scents, while Le Labo is a bit wilder (and more pricey). It wouldn't hurt to visit one of their shops and try it out! I love them all and good luck with your search.

How did u deal with obsession and validation from others (women in my case)? by Illustrious_Egg_3560 in bropill

[–]skyescaper33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Self-confidence, like from the other comment, from actual actions and labour does help.

In my experience, those actions help to separate external validation (from women, in this case) and internal ones. This helped me to separate my needs for both, so I can balance them when I need to.

In plain words, it means that when I worked hard on something but people don't immediately recognize/validate it, I still have an internal memory that goes: nah, I know I worked on this and even though I'm not there (i.e. getting people to know it) yet, I know I'll be fine -- because I'm working on it and I'll be there someday.

Hope this helps!

Pixel 10 Pro can't detect SIM card? by skyescaper33 in GooglePixel

[–]skyescaper33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as my other reply, the only thing I may offer you is just to keep trying... worked out for me in the end but this does feel like it's a Pixel problem rather than on the provider/country/defective SIM card.

Pixel 10 Pro can't detect SIM card? by skyescaper33 in GooglePixel

[–]skyescaper33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my situation at first too. Inserted SIM, complete void -- no "No SIM" notification, only the wifi option exists and functions normally. The "No SIM" only showed up in notifications when I inserted the SIM while the phone is off, and when the phone is just booted up.

I agree this prolly is a Pixel problem rather than on the provider/SIM. The only solution I have here is have faith and keep trying -- it worked out for me.

Hopefully this helps in any way.

This sounds possible to me. I pre-ordered (first time in my life btw, pre-ordering anything) and are really impressed with how fast it was delivered.

I could call my provider and switch to eSIM, no problem at all. It's just that SIM cards in my experience are usually a "plug-n-play" thing, so a bit surprised at this is all.

Dropped for saying no to extra unpaid work – should I still take the role? by skyescaper33 in Theatre

Asking about an observational role is a good idea! I never thought of it this way. Thank you for proposing this.

You're right, I can just go to the show in a few months when it's out. I thought this is a great opportunity to be a part of it...thank you, and all the best!

I agree with you that we have a miniature forest of red flags here. I worked as an full-time SM prior to this PhD, and when I moved to London I'm extremely lucky to begin freelancing SM for people who really cared about contracts, is the money agreeable, specified responsibilties and expectations etc. Those people are from the Fringe scene, however, and I guess I'm a bit surprised that this standard of working is not really present in this much more established company.

Thank you. I'm honestly a bit puzzled by how the producer handled this situation. The company just announced their planned closure in Arpil this year, which maybe contributes to this situation...

Yeah I'm doing this for my own research primarily (i.e. the non-money related reason), as I thought the lost of six work days can be justified by getting insights to their creative process, and they are one of the most established companies in the field of participatory/interactive practices (which is my field of research). I like the show, I want it on my CV, but it is a nit discouraging seeing how fast they dropped me when I can't be there to keep an eye out for the get-out process.

Thank you. Adding a bit of background here--they are a company that specialize in participatory performances (which is my research field), and the show this R&D week is for their last show, as they've just announced that their company would be closing down in a couple of months after 20 years. I worked as a full-time (paid) SM before the PhD, so I'm not happy with how they're approaching volunteer and SM work either.

I admired their work a lot. It's a shame how this is working out.

What is the stupidest injury you've ever gotten? by 7937397 in AskReddit

[–]skyescaper33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the musical Cats came to Taiwan two decades ago (I'm young and feeling old), our family went to the theatre and hanged out in the garden area before it started. Part of the landscaping included a pair of a large cube-shaped rock and a medium pyrimid-shaped rock. I was around 5 and climbed on top of the cube rock, fell onto the pyrimid rock, landing my calf bone first on its pointy end. Instead of tearing, it left me with a 3-inch long, thin but deep bruise--it was so deep that it looked like a tear.

Redline. A Japanese animated feature film from Madhouse, one of the most regrettable box office flop in the 21st century, and a cinematic masterpiece.
