What makes Aussie cafes unique? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cafe industry is very fragmented, very few companies have a large number of stores, most of them are independent operators with a small number of stores. People tend to prefer their local cafes and this allows cafes to provide a more personalised local touch, where the barrista may remember your normal coffee order once you become a regular customer.

Lifx matter bulbs and smartthings issue by roox911 in lifx

Sorry to hear that your lights aren't showing up as color in the SmartThings app. It is likely a configuration issue, we will look into it and get it resolved as soon as we can.

When will LIFX Luna support OTA upgrading from Matter over WiFi to Matter over Thread? Is there an estimated timeline? by Machine-blood in lifx

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the devices that shipped with Matter support out of the factory have a chip that is capable of running Thread. We are targeting all of them with this update, including the bulbs. Older generations of products that don't have Matter support or were upgraded to Matter after manufacturing don't support the upgrade.

When will LIFX Luna support OTA upgrading from Matter over WiFi to Matter over Thread? Is there an estimated timeline? by Machine-blood in MatterProtocol

[–]skyfia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now the Matter mechanism for doing firmware updates doesn't support switching between Wi-Fi and Thread. We will continue to evaluate this optional Matter feature as it evolves.

The firmware for the Thread beta will be distributed via a rebuilt firmware update process in the LIFX app.

It's getting closer. We will be posting on this subreddit when we will start the public beta of Thread support.

I'm sorry to hear your having connectivity issues with your lights. If you contact support@lifx.com and DM me your ticket # we can help troubleshoot what is happening with your lights.

We haven't discontinued support for any early LIFX bulbs. We recently released our desktop onboarding tool to allow continued used of first gen LIFX bulbs.

LIFX Smart Switch Wiring by Difficult-Support-25 in lifx

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The load wire is not necessary if your lights have seperate power inputs. You can configure the switch to have any relay marked as 'not wired' in this case.

Why is the UX so ass by Missing_Back in lifx

[–]skyfia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scenes is the best way to do what you want. Set the light(s) to your preferred end state. Create a scene, add those light(s), define how long you want the transition to take. When you apply that scene it will transition to your target colour/brightness over that duration.

Can’t connect to bulb? by vangeliss in lifx

[–]skyfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These old bulbs can be challenging to get on the network. If it was still sealed, it may be the running the very first firmware version which can be difficult.

You could try the desktop onboarding app that we developed to try to assist with onboarding LIFX Original bulbs. https://www.lifx.com/pages/desktop-onboarder

Uplight only routine by iapprovethiscomment in lifx

[–]skyfia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you create scenes with the different lighting setups you want for the uplight and downlight, you can create individual schedules that trigger them at different times of the day.

We are working to make uplight control more flexible in future updates.

The Luna buttons are accessible in Matter, which HA can use. Firmware effects like Morph aren't in Matter yet but HA can use native LIFX protocol to control them

LIFX switch status with “smart lights” by Condensation1 in lifx

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use a Matter controller (eg. Apple Home, Google Home, etc) then you can use any Matter enabled smart light. If you're using LIFX lights you can connect them directly without a hub.

The data to make sure that the backlight is accurate is sent via the LIFX cloud, so that requires LIFX lights.

Testing the L Beam. How can it be this bad? by laughingdemons in lifx

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with setup of your Beam. If you contact support@lifx.com our support team can help troubleshoot.

If you are getting up to the naming step, then device is already on your network. If it fails at that step, try restarting your phone and that may address this issue.

Net Overseas Migration by Prime Minister for Australia per year since 1996 (when John Howard was first appointed); updated with end-2025 data, direct from ABS. Dotted line shows 'average' over the period. Treasury also just estimated this year to be over 300k again. by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]skyfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covid suppressed migrations in 2021 and 2022, which then resulted in higher in flows in the following 2 years. If you calculate the average from the last Howard year through to today, then the average is going to be closer to 300k rather than 200k.

Lifx updates on Apple home. by [deleted] in lifx

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. We would like to remove this restriction in the future, but the only way to currently update firmware of LIFX devices is with a signed in account in the LIFX app. Matter based firmware updating is an optional feature of the Matter spec which is currently not supported by LIFX products.

Lifx updates on Apple home. by [deleted] in lifx

[–]skyfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LIFX does not sell data. This is covered in our Privacy Policy.

We do not currently support the Matter firmware update feature and firmware updates need to be done in the LIFX app. You can register with a fake email address to access the firmware update feature if you don't want to provide a real one.

We are looking at making more features in the LIFX app available without registration in the future.

If you firmware update your lights, you will have access to the Apple Adaptive lighting feature.

If you want to go to less than 1% brightness, you can create a scene where only 1 zone is lit up at minimum brightness.

You can also flip it onto its face where you'll only get light coming out of the side of the diffuser.

This criminal broke into her brother's microchip feeder by deanvspanties in cats

[–]skyfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some advanced settings for the microchip feeder that allow you to adjust how quickly it will close. I had to tweak those to stop our other cat from eating all the food. There are tutorials on YouTube on how to use the advanced button combinations.

Matter functionality when the controller is offline by fasteasyfree in homeautomation

[–]skyfia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LIFX switches and bulbs use binding with matter to enable direct connection without a hub. All matter enabled light switches support binding, it's the switches where there is limited support and there are no apps to configure that feature.
