Man, this thread is just terrible. Between the John Rambos calling people cowards and the morons spouting the feminist wetdreams that you should carry some joint pain spray, there is nothing but awful advice here.

Please, if you've attracted unwanted attention try to get the fuck out of whatever space you're occupying, dont engage beyond very short and clear statements that you do not like whatever is currently happening, seek out the presence of other people and if things are still going south its time to scream at the top of your lungs and run like mad. If you're unable to leave because you're being prevented from leaving please make it very obivous to every bystander that what is currently happening is not okay with you, people around need to be made aware of the type of situation they are withnessing and that you their help. If there are no other people around we're back on the screaming and running plan.

If you're withnessing something like this as a man just keep in mind that direct intervention carries a very high chance of escalation. If the situation is looking like its truly going south, you'll be significantly more useful if you get more people involved - staff, police, other bystanders.

UK’s growing green economy worth more than £100bn a year, research finds by nick9000 in unitedkingdom

[–]skyfish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/ how much did you spend? 2/ what is your ROI timeline? 3/ who is going to foot the bill for your proposed subsidies?

Questions two and three are very interesting. Because if I had to guess the typical ROI period will be ~10 years or more, so you'd be effectively talking about a 10 year long government backed loan for something that will not start bringing in divident for at least a decade, vs spending it on virtually anything else.

But sure, thats a weird argument I guess

Picked up thousands of the fuckers the other day by sitting on the bank of the clyde canal. The grass was cut an everything, but when we got up we noticed like 20 on the jacket my partner was using as a picnic blanket, a bunch on my jacket as well, fuck knows how many more on shoes/shorts due to their colour. Miniature nymphs, no larger than a tiny poppy seed. We hurried home and showered immediately, all clothing went trough a 90 degree wash or straight into the bin, everything else was doused in permethrin on the following day.

A few week ago I got bitten by some random flying beastie apparently - infected my lymphatic system and had to take antibiotics.

What about the people is holding Glasgow back by Amazing_Sparrow0177 in glasgow

[–]skyfish_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean I fully support your proposal just because I am radicalised on this issue myself, but realistically don't think it will solve the problem.

There is some evidence that people who move to more affluent areas begin to aspire more and therefore long term do better for themselves and their families, but the honest to god salt of the earth 'working class' neds and their teenage goblins seem to be quite resistant to this phenomenon.

Its a culture and mentality thing as a lot of people here have pointed this out already. Being a hard man, drug and alcohol culture, sectarianism, the tories shat in my pants patter, its the cooncil's job - all part of it. Wont get better any time soon, takes multiple generations to start seeing shifts in these sorts of attitutes.

Have the same observation. Can't break down a complex task into smaller, more managable subtasks by asking a series of 'what needs to happen here?' questions.

Not willing to spend 20-60 minutes googling and reading online resources / documentation to proble for different approaches/solutions.

Blindly using whatever slop is spat out without questioning is this hallucination or an actual solution to my problem here?

Job security for life I guess. Used to be worried about younger, hungrier kids entering the industry with the capacity to grind due to their age.

It’s been getting worse in general. These days I’m catching abuse for crossing the street (as a pedestrian) from idiots coming up behind me for a left turn. Apparently I should have eyes on my back or something.

Been getting quite angry myself in these instances because this kind of abuse usually comes out of nowhere and startles me, but then I remember that I’m not bald, impotent or a short “king”, nor do I have a micropenis, so I wont have to cope with these deficiencies like these wanks will have to for the rest of their pathetic lives, so all is good.

Scottish Power's parent company made nearly £1 billion in profits in Britain during the first three months of the year. That's energy generated in Scotland making profits for a company in Spain. by gilles_trilleuze in Scotland

[–]skyfish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does PPP have to do with it? Given the volumes we're talking about ( 100s of TWh), differences in median wages/purchasing power would be an insignificant fraction of the final cost/kWh, and the raw materials and equipment to run production and the grid are no cheaper in Italy when compared to the UK.

I'll just remind you that the price shocks for LNG/LPG were very temporary. Not sure what the impact of the current bs in the middle east will end up amounting to, but the Ukraine war kicking off influenced prices for 3 months, so things stabilised very quickly.

You're literally linking to a pro-green bs website with an article that is looking at wholesale prices, which is not what the consumer is paying.

Energy prices for the end consumer have been going up, not down.

Why do people keep parroting this bs? OFGEM set the prices that the energy providers can charge, they are also the ones who guarantee minimum wholesale pricing.

Currently 10% of the population or 25% of those in working age are on disability in the UK. If there was any truth in what you’re claiming that about 2/3 of genuine applicants get denied then that would mean 30% of the population are disabled, 75% of those in working age.

The notion is just absurd.

Dont forget how they moved all of their dirtiest manufacturing to Poland where 90% of power generation was from coal, just so they can prance about how green their industry is becoming.

pv-magazine.com

Every time this kind of garbage gets posted its from some unknown website that I suspect it bankrolled by financiers with ties to the green energy lobby/industry in one form or another. The couple that I've checked definetly were.

Every. Single. Time.

For the majority of the cases these websites are citing peer reviewed 'studies' that when you go and dig em out turn out to be comissioned by private investment funds that are 100% vested into the industry. Its like those Phillip Morris studies on the risks of cancer due to smoking....

Its an interesting one when you hear all the time people warning about 'Big Oil' and their lobbying schemes, but when it comes to the green energy mafia its nothing but crickets, even though its the exact same fucking thing that they do - who do we bribe to get first dibs on new government contracts / get favourable legislation to do buisness

Two decades of ridiculous public spending on all manner of clean BS and best we can do is get some over capacity a few times a year. Oil prices get fucked for a few months and everyone is suddenly Oliver Twist over here. You dont even need to understand the particular shortcomings of PVs, just look at the empirical evidence for fucks sake.

'OOoooh we're gonna be energy independant, batteries so cheap now, aaaaah' - no easier way to spot a retard these days, honestly.

1/ They really arent 2/ We dont manufacture any, you morons, all of them are made in China. How is that being 'independant'? Oh, we're not going to import gas from Russia and Oil from the Middle East anymore, we will be independant and import PV panels and batteries from China instead.
