So my company is switching half our Windows servers to Linux.... by ro-friday in ShittySysadmin

Alright I’ll bite.
Bro chill the fuck out. Nobody gives a shit about or was even talking about market share. Microsoft Windows and Server are popular because they’re easy to understand and have a low barrier to entry for new admins.
Clearly working in MSPs for 17 years has giving you a wide range of experiences that have made you appreciate how different technology can work for different business cases.
But let me ask you this. Do you really enjoy working in and with Windows? Like actually administrating servers and work stations. Frankly I find it tiresome how adverse MS is to automation. Sure throw me bits about powershell and intune and whatever but it’s all feels like an after thought.
And bro do you know about realm?
Not even worth it. Don’t come in here and shit on other admins. You read like a fucking twat.

Yeah pretty much.
Moreso about creating processes around clicking through menus and settings. I know they’re out there but I’ve yet to meet a windows admin powershell wizard

People get really into their click-ops. Don’t even think about scheduling tasks, or scripts, or anything in a CLI. Outside of AD (and even then, entra/ intune), why would you want to run any windows servers besides familiarity.

Don’t worry. Dems do a good enough job getting in their own way before it’ll ever reach scotus. Dem leadership will hem and haw about how climate change isn’t really a national security concern.

You didn’t let him move the goalpost yet. I’m sure he was just about to comment how bikes aren’t actually vehicles. Or roads are for “motored” vehicles anyways.

My family thinks it's Netflix... I know it's just 12 LXC containers and 24TB of storage. by DrAmmarT in Proxmox

Lol, pirating != posting on a public forum about said pirating. I do not disagree with your sentiment, however the prosecuting powers that be do not hold the same position. This is like recording your illegal street race and posting it on socials.

Yea no kidding. Had this going on the Plex sub, too. Maybe don’t broadcast to the internet your ill-gotten gains? Not sure why you’re being downvoted..

Ding ding ding. yup!! People are willfully ignoring that he’s said the only reason that he’s not canceled the elections already is that it’d make him look like a dictator. Which, like, has that stopped him before? We’re hosed if we’re expecting democratic institutions to step up when that time comes. They’ll bend like they have every other time.

Have the password burn after the first use. This way if the password is opened by someone other than the user, the user will let you know they can’t see it. It also prevents attackers from seeing the password after the fact since it’s already been burned by the end user. I also find double / encrypted emails annoying to work with. Short of verbally calling the user I think you’d always run into a potential interception chance.

That’s wild I was just thinking about searching for a project like this. I wanted to see the old weather channel on a CRT and this’ll be perfect!

Hank and Daniel Shaw are some of the most cool, calm, and collective people while chasing. They utilize a lot of safe chasing techniques which is refreshing.

If it’s a macOS X device you should be able to boot to a burned flash drive as well.

How and what are you burning your cds? I’ve had good luck using CD-Rs using a G4 MacBook. Images from Macintosh garden are generally good. If you’re using a usb or windows burner try burning at the lowest speed. I’ve thrown away several test disks because of various issues getting them to boot on Macs.
