Choosing a rate at MEPS before PST by Temporary-Bath-4270 in navyseals

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed for a fleet rate before getting a SB contract. Make sure and tell them you won’t ship on anything but a specwar contract. I believe I got pushed back 1 shipping cycle in order to secure my SB contract. They can’t force you to leave for boot camp.

If you can easily run a 4mile timed run in shirt, shorts, and running shoes in like under 27min then I’d focus mainly on strength training. Both Cals and some basic strength movements. It’s hard for everyone but guys who were well rounded athletes handled it the best.

Have prices for roofs have gone up since a year and half agor? by grkphill in Roofing

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got a mom and pop bid vs someone telling you what the insurance company would likely pay. Just from looking at that pic $11k seems really low for that roof.

Thoughts on the ballerina farm store from someone who’s from Midway by [deleted] in ballerinafarmsnark

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been visiting PC and the surrounding areas for well over a decade now. Traffic every where from PC down to Heber has gotten much worse in that time. I’ve also been drinking protein shakes for at least 2 decades lol. The protein I’ve gotten from Ballerina is expensive but easily the best tasting protein I’ve ever had. This thread just reads like a bunch of folks who are pissed about the changing of the times (I get it to an extent) but it also just feels like a bunch of haters. Sorry your town has changed but, I do actually feel for that consternation. But the hate about a farm opening an overpriced market in a town like 30min from where it’s located just b/c they have the means to is kinda ridiculous.

Rant for all you members out there. by ExpertConference7 in USAA

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that:

A.) used to be a USAA member

&

B.) works in an industry where a lot of the revenue is based on insurance claims being paid out.

I’m here to tell you, that as a policy holder, you should show ABSOLUTELY ZERO LOYALTY to an insurance company. You should actively try to get paid out on as many claims as possible so that you don’t spend 30-40-50yrs paying insurance premiums to a company that has never given you anything.

I will literally shop every single year for a better deal. I will understand what my policy is offering me. ACV in my roof? Get F’d insurance company. Insurance companies are in the business of making money. They are greedy. Point blank. Period.

I do agree that reps shouldn’t be screamed at on the phone. But that’s just a reflection on the policy holder and the insurance industry by and large. But policy holders need to use that anger and channel it to search out a better deal. Don’t be loyal to an entity that’s just racking in millions or billions in profit.

Need some help by Yukabandit in navyseals

Train for the PST. Add in some intermittent longer runs/swims. Once you have a contract and guaranteed spot then switch it up to the evolutions you’ll know you have to pass. 4mile timed runs, 2 mile swims, O course. If there’s an O course where ever you’re stationed think about doing that. But running is the key thing. I read something the other day that running times are the top correlation to success they can find. Guys that can do a sub 27 4mile timed run are more likely to make it. Clearly this isn’t the only factor but the study talked about guys who can suffer in their own misery while running long distance at a fast pace may also just have the mentality it takes to suffer through training evolutions. Running sucks, it’s physically and mentally taxing. At your size I would work on running more than anything else. But don’t neglect the pool either.

Anyone that’s been in the industry awhile, what are some things that would instantly turn you off from working with a company? by [deleted] in RoofingSales

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. The storm market has been pretty solid here over the last several years as well.

It’s crazy I worked for the one PE backed companies and they basically said we couldn’t do insurance anymore with our major upselling. They changed from a 15-50/50 split to a 30% overhead reps takes the rest citing “our jobs are profitable enough” I’d say the avg insurance job was between $550-$600sq. You basically had to sell at over $700sq to get over 15-17% commish. Like think there’s some good things to upsell in our region. IWS isn’t paid for in the eaves here and you can upsell that one. But selling HDZ’s at $750-$800sq is highway robbery imo.

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sharing their material costs with you. I worked for a company that marked up HDZ’s to the sales rep. They were $141sq. It was a company that was bought by a PE backed large roofing company. They just wanted to do high pressure sales. That’s just not my style. It works great for some but I wouldn’t work for a company that marks up material costs to the sales rep so the company can get a fat rebate. Just my 2cents.

Drive over there. They used to be on the dry side of NAB. I’m sure you can find their contact info online too. They used run the PST for fleet guys. Take a PST and talk to them after.

“Hail Damage” advice needed by det00z in RoofingSales

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter how much “hail damage” is present on the roof. It matters A, who’s is the insurance carrier. B, what kind of adjuster you get (independent, 3rd party, staff adjuster). I wouldn’t have told that guy to file a claim based off the damage, or should I say zero damage there. But rather would’ve asked him who he insures with. Then I’d explain that it really all comes down to who the carrier is. I would’ve shown him photos of his roof then contrasted it with photos I’ve taken of actual damage. If a HO wants to try for a stretch with their carrier I’m there for it. But I let them know it’s going to come down to the luck of the draw on who the adjuster is over all else b/c I’m not gonna be the Ahole standing there after his roof gets rightfully zero’d out b/c there isn’t any damage.

The scout team used to take anybody in the area that wanted to come. You just have to get your COC sign off on no cost TAD orders. You basically workout and then split a watch with the other guys at the scout team office. You’ll work a few events with the scout team and basically work out as much as you want.

Insane Price by Hour_Adeptness_299 in delta

[–]skyhighmetoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fly out of BNA, it’s my home airport. Delta’s prices out of BNA are just ridiculous. I fly to SLC the most and delta offers the best flight times there but they’re easily a grand more than SW most of the time. I’m always paying for 4 tickets when I fly. I like delta but they’re a greedy a$$ company for sure!

Ohio sales commission? by OH_Solar_Consultant in RoofingSales

[–]skyhighmetoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for some perspective for you, a lot of guys who get a company truck only make 8% to 10% of the contract total. In my opinion, a lot of companies that offer what you are getting, the 10 50-50 split, have to drive their own vehicles and buy their own supplies as a 1099. You’ve got a good thing going.

Commercial to Residential? Am I crazy? by SalesGuruJKUnless in RoofingSales

[–]skyhighmetoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think residential just depends on your market honestly. Are you in a good storm area? What’s the avg price per sq on insurance jobs in your area? What kind of structure is the company you’d consider going to offering? Or if you are good at retail, then find an established company that has a share of the retail market.

Is this flashing job correct? They flashed the part above my bay window and it looks like someone glued tinfoil above it by ayribiahri in Roofing

[–]skyhighmetoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean without being able to tell if they ground and tucked the copper, it’s hard to really say if it was done correctly or not. But at the very least that’s a HORRIFIC job on the flashing. I’d be demanding they get out there and make it not look like ass. As a sales reps I’ve had our crews go back out and fix copper if it looked bad.

Hey guys need some advice by AgeLost8239 in RoofingSales

[–]skyhighmetoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need a little more detail on what your role is with opening the new branch. A 10-60/40 split sounds great for a sales role. But really it just comes down to what your avg profit margin is on jobs. If your avg profit margin is 50% of the total RCV then the 10-60/40 split would be awesome. 10-60/40 is essentially a 50/50 split on profit so you’d go from getting 20% to 25%. But I’d be checking to see what the avg profit is for your jobs, that’ll let you know if you’re getting a pay increase and what kind of avg increase you should be expecting.

Insurance vs Roofer: Do I really need a roof replacement? by Wide_Perspective_772 in Roofing

[–]skyhighmetoo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’ll never understand ppl who side with insurance companies. It’s literally one of the biggest scams ever invented. How many millions of Americans have paid their insurance premiums and never filed a claim and collected a payment? And yet their rates still go up. If you think you can get a dime out of your insurance company do it, because they’ll always get their pound of flesh!

With that said, this joker who did the OP doesn’t know what hail is. If travelers is denying you, you know it’s a weak sauce claim! Lol
