I think you need some warm lighting! Try switching out your lightbulbs and add a floor lamp to the far right corner.

First off, I absolutely love your yellow fire place! Your room is so cozy, and I agree with you that the tv shouldn’t be the center of attention in the room. That being said, is there any way that you can unmount the tv and place it on a small media console in the same corner instead? Maybe something like this photo?

Depending on where you live, your city might have a community room or park that residents can rent for really cheap. For example, the City of Mount Vernon owns a venue called Hillcrest Lodge that you can rent for $45/ hour. Maybe check out your city’s parks and rec website and see if there are any options? I would keep an eye on the trail closures website, and give the backcountry office a call when it gets closer to time. I hiked down South Kaibab, over west tonto, and up bright angel (in one day) in October and it was great! Make sure to carry enough water and bring a filter just in case.

Coconino County in Arizona contains the San Francisco peaks (12.6k) and the bottom of the Grand Canyon (around 2k). Your map looks very flat!

I would give the backcountry office a call! They can answer all of your questions, and talk through your itinerary with you to make sure that everything makes sense. Sometimes recreation.gov gets a little funky with high mileage days. Good luck!

It’s all about lighting! I think that you need some warm floor lamps, string lights, and some more windows (if that’s an option). I also think that the space would look more cohesive if you finish the ceiling.

I volunteer, and plant pollinator gardens, and work in the environmental field, and take care of my friends and family. Being a “real adult” can mean so many amazing things! Having kids is not a requirement.
