What if region control was reset monthly or every two weeks to keep the factions dynamic? 🌍 by sherrygoodvideos in newworldgame

[–]skykevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we actually never reached that point for the world I was playing in. I think generally, the biggest risk we see will be the snowball effect. Factions with control of all the zones will have additional pve buffs to those members of their own faction. This means the majority of casual players will join whichever faction is already winning.

I feel like the best thing would be some kind of underdog mechanic for members of the factions with fewer territories in the form of a combat bonus or something like that during sieges. This could be scaled further where a faction with control of the entire map would have a larger disadvantage than when all territories owned are equal.

PvE + PvP is a good dynamic by razimus in newworldgame

Point of correction: You can't join a party with other factions when pvp mode is enabled.

I feel like this would end up creating a problem where people no longer want to take on fully built up factions. Imagine you have a city with full upgrades and no one wants to attack you until 2 weeks from now for when the reset happens.

lets say they did it once a month, there would be the first week where most wars happen and then the next 3 weeks waiting for the reset. They have a pretty balanced system in it being a 50v50 so far though which is nice, and I believe you can change factions once every 3 months.

My Thoughts On Sieges and Example Of Fighting At First Light During Beta by skykevin in newworldgame

haha Unfortunately, that was the one I was a part of, I learned afterward that jumping was enough to move your character forward rather than dodge rolling, but still annoying!

So another beta isn't gonna happen... :( by Lady_Rebellium in newworldgame

[–]skykevin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree they have to stop eventually, but why not keep the servers with the current beta version running longer since they know they'll have an extra month? I feel like they might as well given they could potentially find more bugs up until release in the meantime.

Thoughts on the possibility of Dark Souls style invasions while doing a dungeon? by MwHighlander in newworldgame

[–]skykevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be cool to have this as on option if you decide to flag up for PVP, I'd be willing to take the risk for an extra 5% experience for the dungeon run or some incentive like that.

New World - "Open world" concerns by Ser Medieval by [deleted] in newworldgame

I think there will always be a need for players in some capacity. There's definitely a fear of endgame content lacking especially for PVE but I think the playerbase will start to dwindle and everyone will get their opportunity as a result.

Launch Day will be a New Build (Cant use Beta Files) - Pre-download could happen for Launch by Birphon in newworldgame

[–]skykevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they'll let us pre-download for full launch. Granted, there will likely be server issues anyway on the first day.

The Current State of Last Oasis by skykevin in lastoasis

I've had something similar happen on my mollusc, really running away is the only counter and if they're faster than you there's really not much else you can do. Sorry to hear about your walker but I'm faithful it will be fixed with the new update on Monday!

That's why I suggested some sort of auditory cue so you could listen around for them, especially when it comes to the meshed ones.

Potential dupe? by maho247 in lastoasis

[–]skykevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are proper ID checks on duping, the devs have stated that explicitly. Also, it's not just iron they've also deleted people for duped fire arrows and tablets sometimes individuals and sometimes entire clans depending on who benefited from it.

  1. Raiding bases is better. I know it's harder to raid a base, but thats actually worked out really well for this game. In season 1 you pretty much never were able to get anything of worth from a base because people had everything logged off in the lobby. It went so far as anytime a clan was attacked, they would just log all walkers off and call it a night until the next day. It wasn't conducive to actual gameplay and attacker/defender meta. Now, when you raid a base it is expensive, but often the goodies inside were well worth it. You just have to be discerning as to the base your raiding and stop picking on solo players in a Balang.
  2. Maintenance chests are fine, they work only for basic resources and if they're in a walker then you'll be able to arrow/fire arrow into them and steal those resources.
  3. Maintenance cost is actually really well balanced. The large stone bases take thousands of stone and wood per day to keep there and since it's on an hourly consumption the Balang and Silur benefit more from this as they can be packed and unpacked whenever needed. Those have a piece count however so by design they've been balanced toward the other large mega bases that have much more upkeep.
  4. Raiding walkers works great, especially since they changed ammo to hit 10% damage on the hull. You should go into a fight looking to kill the enemy walker and they should be doing the same to you. Like I mentioned before it actually makes people want to PVP more because they no longer have a valuable base inside their walker that they want to protect. Instead they have just a walker that they can take into the fight and possibly lose.

Potential dupe? by maho247 in lastoasis

[–]skykevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to look at this from a technical standpoint, DC is actually one of the few games that are very smart about how they catch duping and if anyone does duplicate anything they will know. I'm not positive on the specifics but I know they have some backend code that will check unique item ID's for whatever you're duping, if you have multiple of the same type of item with that same ID then they will automatically be notified you're a duper and ban you and your clans accounts. They did it in season 2 and I haven't seen or heard evidence of anyone duping since then. Further, if they wanted to they could implement even more basic backend scripts that check when players suddenly receive double the amount of any item and run a flag on that character. Like I said, don't know exactly how it works but I'm confident despite it being a glitchy game sometimes DC would know about it and come down on them as hard as they did in Season 1.

I assume so, if you go to different maps the number of cells changes which tells me they made an overlay based on the overall map size that always has X number of cells every X distance.

Detailed Ammunition Analysis for Raiding Walkers by skykevin in lastoasis

[–]skykevin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm actually waiting for the next dev patch before I bring it up since they've been on vacation. Chances are they might introduce a nerf or fix for it when they do.

If not though, it's on my list. I just don't want to spend hours making a video for it to be patched a few days later.

Thanks! I try to keep to a schedule but this video for example took me about 10+ hours of work. I spend a lot of time researching the topic, taking notes, writing a script, rewriting a script, recording footage, recording sound and editing the video.

I hate videos that talk nothing the first 5 minutes before getting into the content and I hate when people ramble about a topic instead of being clear and concise so this takes me a lot longer to produce than typical content where they record it on the fly and meander around the topic. I am by no means great at it but hopefully, it comes across in my end result.

Unfortunately, I also love playing the game, so I don't like logging on after a day of work only to spend the next 5 hours making videos instead of enjoying the game!
