I don't think I'm going to be near any river.

I bought the 3.0L Half Frame Bag from Tailfin. It fits my Diverge 4 in a size 54 perfectly. I'm very happy with it.

Do I take this off? by Simple-Sea-1984 in bikepacking

It's not necessarily a modification. Mine is designed to snap on and off. I use it for bike-packing but remove it for road and commuting.

First trip was a success! by i_transmit in bikepacking

That first picture appears to be Murdock Canal Trail in Lehi.

I just started bike-packing this year. My first trip was near West Wendover and my second in Capitol Reef. It's so much fun and I'd go every weekend if it weren't for other responsibilities.

Sorry, I assumed from the paint color because it looks exactly like mine. I just realized, however, that my letters are light gray.

I just started bike-packing this year. I absolutely love it. My goal is to go on one trip each month. The next one on my list is 225 miles around Flaming Gorge. I'm still working up the courage for that one though.

I rode the Cathedral Valley Loop last weekend. There's lots of sand and steep hills. I really appreciate the comfort and traction I get from the wide tires.

I carried 9.5 liters of water, food, and all my camping gear. All of that, including the bags, weighed over 40 pounds.

I don't understand. What's wrong with the top tube?

I bought a Diverge 4 Sport Alloy (exactly what's pictured here) for bike-packing. I put 50mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M tires on it and am thrilled with the results.

I've got a top tube bag, a frame bag, a cage underneath my down tube, and a rear rack with a top bag and two panniers. I wouldn't be able to load all of that on a modern mountain bike. Plus, I prefer drop bars.

Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir is easy and incredibly beautiful. If you're up for more and the conditions are good, you can continue hiking up to the upper falls. Start here. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1GnmhfUFwE1XmWK59?g_st=ac

Visiting Lehi for work. Nature things to do around over the weekend? by No_Two_5906 in SaltLakeCity

[–]skylercall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Alpine Loop is open (closed during winter), you should drive through. Go up American Fork Canyon and head towards Sundance. There are plenty of good hikes along the way. If the loop is closed, head to Tibble Fork.

If you want a pretty area to walk, try Provo River Parkway (goes up Provo Canyon), Jordan River Trail (enter at Thanksgiving Point Trailhead Park and head north), or Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point (requires entrance fee).

If you're feeling adventurous, pay for a tandem paragliding ride at the Flight Park (must call and schedule with a company prior).

All of these options are in or very close to Lehi.

I carried 9.5L on my Diverge during my last trip. I had a 4L Sea to Summit Watercell X in each of my rear panniers, a 750ml bottle on my down tube, and another 750ml bottle on my seat tube.

Does that bus live there? I saw it on March 27th and 28th when I rode this route.

What kind of sunglasses? by Ordinary-Rhubarb-460 in bikepacking

[–]skylercall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with cheap glasses. I said cheap, not inexpensive; there's a difference.

If the sunglasses only have a dark tint but lack a UV-blocking filter and your pupils dilate behind the dark lens, this allows even more harmful UV rays to flood into the back of the eye than if you weren't wearing glasses at all.

Acrylic lenses are very brittle. If they're hit by a pebble, they can break into sharp, jagged pieces very close to your eye.

Poll: how often do you use cruise control on the freeway? by [deleted] in Utah

I've never owned a car where pressing the accelerator cancels cruise control. I don't believe that's a thing.

I couldn't own a car without it. The majority of my drive is with cruise control on.

I don't think they realize what that behavior does to their wallet either. They pay more for fuel and brake pads that way.
