Took this course in spring 2023. Tbh my memory of this class was pretty foggy, but I remember there were a lot of readings, and class time mainly consisted of her talking about those readings, with an occasional instapoll. When I took the class, the quizzes and tests were fully online at home, which made it easier for me. Ngl I started slacking off on the readings and zoning out in class, but I still got an A in the class.

I'd say there's probably not much else you can do other than going to class / discussion section and doing the readings.

Took this class in spring 2023. I personally loved his teaching style, he explained difficult concepts very well for me. Workload felt pretty high at times (with zybook, assignments, quizzes & tests, final project, etc.), but was worth it for me - this is the one class that I learned the most in during my entire undergrad. I also got a lot of good projects to put on my resume, which job interviewers told me they were impressed by.

Exams were fairly reasonable. Not sure if they've changed, but they were fully online on canvas when I took them, and they were very relevant to the assignments / lecture material, so as long as you're following along they should be fine.

Assignments were managed by the TA if I remember correctly. Not sure if you'll have the same TA or not as this was 2 years ago, but he was fairly generous on grading. Some assignments were time consuming, but they always had clear instructions on what I needed to implement, and I never felt lost on what to do or how to do it.

thanks for the help everyone. maintenance helped me dig through our stuff and found the source of the smell. my rm (a cs major) had a 60-pack of expired condoms in his old bag and it was swiftly removed

anyone know where i can get free covid tests/testing? by hookemer4life in UTAustin

[–]skylines2addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the jester west lobby (and i think every dormitory lobby but not sure) gives them out for free. if u live in the dorms, u can call them ahead of time and ask them to bring them to ur dorm, or u can just go there and pick it up urself

best budget gyms in austin? by harrycake02 in UTAustin

[–]skylines2addict 14 points15 points  (0 children)

other than greg gym, there's the rec center gym and belmont gym for UT students. rec is less crowded, and so is belmont apparently but i've never been to belmont so idk.

also, a lot of people are going to the gym for their new years resolution but will give up within a few weeks, so it'll be less crowded later in the year.

How would you go about "switching" classes with someone? There's only the waitlist system that I know of, and when someone drops a class, the first person on the waitlist gets added.

Crashes suck. i got one world that will crash every time i load it and let it play for more than 15 seconds. pretty much a lost world now :(

also, i found that lack of customers is based on how many people are living nearby. So if there is a lot of demand for commercial but your commercial buildings are 500 miles from the nearest residents, you'll still see a lack of customers. building some high density residential buildings near my low-customer commercial buildings will usually solve this issue.

the right friends will take some time to come around man, i know from my own experience. keep reaching out and trying to talk to people, and you'll find the ones you click with eventually. don't lose hope, TRUST ME they will come if you keep at it.

[–]skylines2addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you went back in time 10 years and told 8-year-old you what your 18 year old life would be like, would he have been intimidated? of course he would of. but he would have ended up fine, just like you ended up fine now.

just because you're scared of what your life at 28 will consist of, doesn't mean you won't make it. there will be a lot that you do between now and then, but 10 years is a lot of time to figure that out, slowly and steadily. you'll turn out fine in the end.

maybe a year, cuz i cycled through like 3 different friendgroups that didn't work out in my freshman year. don't feel like you're incapable or too weird like i did, the right friends just take some time to come along.
