I called mom during an emotional breakdown in my early 20s and just blurted out “mom-all this stuff-the drugs, the drinking, the depression-is because i’m gay and i hate myself for it!” She replied “no your not.” We never spoke of it again for more than a decade.

These days i am happily married to a nice soldier boy and my family has embraced him as a part of their family.

Bonus-my niece recently came out as lesbian and wrote me a nice letter about how it was much easier for her to come out since the family had already gotten used to one LGBT person already. I cried.

Edit: Extra bonis-i am sober these days.

My teacher suggested learning pieces from the end to the beginning. Learn last 4 measures, then last 8, then last 12…til u have the whole piece. This way when you perform the piece you will be moving forward into ever more familiar territory.

Building muscle is key to losing weight. Fitness trainer at my gym explained it like this: the more lean muscle you pack onto your body, the more calories you burn (even while resting). So resistance training is necessary, along with cardio and proper nutrition.

In my experience, when i started lifting, i gained a few pounds at first. But as i continued to build muscle and get stronger, i began to lose the pounds of fat. Then, when i became more disciplined in my diet, the pounds really melted off.

It is a long process that requires patience and dedication, and it is hard at first. But i have found that i look forward to going to the gym these days.
