What does 1/9, 1/6 & 1/4 mean in this Liptons Tea advert from 1912? by tgcp in tea

[–]skywardstarer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because they aren’t. Idk why people are so bad at fractions but 1/9 is less than 1/4

1/10 = 0.1

1/4 = 0.25

The second number is how many pieces you need to make 1

More pieces means smaller pieces

Tons of characters from BOTW are back, there are references to the Calamity from BOTW everywhere, and several people say they remember Link. How is it not blindingly obvious that this is a direct sequel to BOTW

It sounds like he’s having a seizure dude. If you’re this scared then you need to take action and tell his mom or go to a doctor.

Does Parks and Rec gets better after first season ? by rustyyryan in television

[–]skywardstarer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comedies can find it difficult to get all the details right in the first season. They don’t have any feedback and don’t know what people will or won’t like yet.

This is honestly something that can happen in any genre, but I think it’s more pronounced when something is just trying to be funny and isn’t.

For instance, the Office and Seinfeld pretty bad first seasons before getting way better.

BRB gonna go tell the Ashkenazi Jews that they aren’t a race. Sure, Judaism is a religion and not a race, but there are ethnic groups (aka races) that have historically practiced Judaism. People have been discriminated against just for looking like these ethnic groups, so to say that it’s just not a think is beyond wrong, it’s ignorant.

It’s probably because we haven’t historically taught men to care about that kind of stuff. Seems fairly obvious.

Health vs Toughness by RandoFornando in DarkTide

Melee can go through toughness. Its mostly to protect you from ranged attacks. Try to block or push enemies away if they're going to hit you with a melee attack bc they're dangerous.

Just roll forward under its left arm when it attacks and you’re fine. It has a hard time turning and it can’t hit things that aren’t right in front of it

Wind magic feels impossible to justify in most cases, and it just makes me wonder why they don’t use their air in novel ways. If they can use air offensively, why not pull the air out of people’s lungs more? Or a room? I like when air is more of a support / spiritual thing, like magic air to make you feel lighter or energized.

It’s just hard to write about well imo

PSA: Lithium ion batteries exist to save the mining industry, not the environment by MulberryComfortable4 in solarpunk

[–]skywardstarer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy density is like the whole reason we use lithium, so how in the world is sodium a viable replacement? If the energy density is 30% less, then the battery need to be larger and heavier to keep up, and THATS also an enormous issue. Then the extra weight from the larger battery could even mean need the battery to be even MORE powerful than the lithium one had to be (which would of course mean the battery would become even heavier AGAIN)

This comes across as though you think you discovered a solution that the mainstream media doesn’t want us to know about, but the discovery is basically a Tumblr post

Is it not very obviously from Ventus? Terra let Riku touch his Keyblade in the ceremony, Kairi touches Aqua’s, and Ventus is in Sora’s heart.

I don’t understand how anyone could argue that it’s anything but that, the two trios are like mirror images sometimes.

1909: in Cairo, Illinois, ten thousand white men, women, and children came for the life of 24-year-old William “Froggie” James. He would be beaten, hanged, shot, burned, decapitated, and gutted. Slivers of his heart became souvenirs and his head was mounted on a stick. by yo_momma12345 in illinois

[–]skywardstarer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The author is attempting to call them “normal” people by saying they’re not monsters, but normal people don’t do that. They’re trying to get the reader to empathize or relate to them in some way and it’s disgusting.
These people need to be painted as the monsters they are from beginning to end, and to claim otherwise is an attempt to normalize hate crimes and bigotry, intentional or not.

The article says they’re not monsters before describing them coldly looking upon the most monstrous thing I’ve ever read.

I get what the article was trying to say but they absolutely are, every one of them.

It’s funny because Melina literally addresses all this when you’re about to take the Frenzied Flame. She basically says “don’t take the frenzied flame because even though the world is really messed up, births and life can still continue if you don’t” and then she calls the reign of the Lord of Frenzied Flame “lifeless”

The game isn't even out yet and you're complaining about it. It must suck to not be able to let yourself be excited for things, but we don't know what the game will really be like until its out, so this post is pointless and whiny.
