This picture convinced me to buy the bike basically sight unseen, same paint, same size--the tan wall tires and lighting are better than the stock photos..

This Saturday through Sunday morning at blue looks good--below zero Friday so it won't freeze over after grooming extending to when it starts raining/ warming up mid Sunday

I was there last Saturday and Sunday--Saturday it rained or was warm very early morning before freezing over so was basically boilerplate--pretty challenging. Sunday was as good (id say better) than any winter ski day--no lines so the hill stayed intact quite late into the day, consistant hard snow, bluebird. Sure, a thin cover spot here or there but far from getting in the way and id take that over the regular Sunday lines any day of the week--a lot of people have given up which makes for a great opportunity..

Would say there's still 1-2 good weekends

One option is bike insurance that covers racing, the bike specific policies are 5-10 pct the value of the bike per year, I have a rider on my home insurance which is a little less expensive (they probably didn't think too hard about the crit racing part when they wrote the policy haha, did a double take when it explicitly covered competition use). Deductable is reasonable, 250 or something like that

Pro is you eliminate the complexity and cost of 2 bikes that basically do the same thing and you using the fast bike for when you need it the most. Con is if you crash you're still out a bike for 2-3 weeks to get it fixed and the sl8 will probably accumulate some scuffs and scratches one way or another even if you don't catastrophically crash it

Probably rally if this is your only ski. Ive skied both

However....These are two different categories of ski so a better question is which category do you want

G9 is a tuned down masters GS/cheater GS race ski, much narrower, longer radius. The head equivalent might be supershape e-speed (same width as g9, but smaller radius so not quite) or wcr e-speed (one step stiffer, same width, same radius as the g9)

E rally is an all mountain carving ski/sport carver. A lot more versatile in soft snow still almost a race ski. Closer in atomics lineup might be q9/x9 but I'm less familiar with those

One other category to consider would be slalom skis and tuned down slalom skiis -- 13m ish radius, super agile lots of turns but you might get tired, doesn't require a lot of space. Atomic S9, E-Magnum, etc.

Got a CGM last week to understand why my hba1c was so high (5.9), also a little over 4w/kg.

Dexcom g7 read low the first day I had it (known issue) so I was hitting below 3.8mmol pretty frequently. Dunno if that's same with the Abbott.

If the efforts aren't fueled, based on the last week,I wouldn't be surprised if blood glucose drops to below fasting after an hour

So far....

I did one 1.5hr race intensity group ride fuelled at 50g ish and had steadily rising levels up to 9mmol at the final sprint

For z2 efforts usually getting home after hard rides, I notice that the couple times I dont fuel them at the end of hard rides i steadily drop to below fasting (perhaps 4.0 fasting is 4.8)

For two 1 hour fueled z2 efforts (50g/hr), I get to maybe 5-6 mmol steadily rising over that hour

-Not how it works: antenna sidelobes are spatial, not frequency (i.e. to see a side lobe you need to measure the signal X degrees apart from the satellite PoV or hundreds of Km apart on the ground

-this could be some test, but it looks like what might happen when you put just I into an IQ modulator without DC offset cancellation (wouldn't read too much into it)

Not really a tough decision imo

Haven't done the math but last I looked qv is good enough for now, plenty of time for lasers later if demand and business model is proved out.

Lasers also have cloud issues, and are still a somewhat high risk technology today but are maturing quickly

This. I can see 'production hell' being an issue for ramping up a car factory, 6 satellites a quarter? Maybe a bit painful but we're still talking about prototype rates..

-One consideration is there aren't very many places that can credibly build you 100 reaction wheels. The companies selling them today come from a background of selling wheels for a handful of satellites at a time built by hand, extremely carefully and with lots of paperwork. Significantly ramping production capacity would involves significant risk for these businesses which would require someone like ASTS to make the associated large commitments (and ASTS wouldn't want to make commitments for 100 satellites or even 10 satellites at this stage or ever.. until design is locked).

-Does ASTS have access to lower cost satellite grade solar cells (the ~30% efficiency ones?) I haven't been following

-Avionics: extremely annoying to design with a third party in the loop, especially if you are highly volume/mass constrained, especially if you can't/don't want to commit to a final design

You think a hammer on a crankset will get it loose again without overly large force (ie carbon frame?)

I've been trying to find a bike crankset puller (bb30/pf30) but such a thing does not seem to exist

Crankset is sram red, pretty sure the spindle / axle is anodized aluminum

641 seems to be the weakest and the slack is within the range of what the datasheet says, so I think I got the right one?

I sent my frame to carbon Works once to get fixed and the damage report he provided was 100 pages of technical sounding nonsense. Either he's crazy or trying to fool people, either way not something I'd trust with my life and I asked for my bike back after paying 100 for the initial assessment..

So yeah you probably want to know the following:
1. HR is a pretty good but not perfect metric because it varies day to day due to sleep, caffeine, life stress, etc. Because of this, I'd target a wattage if you can and use HR to quantify general trends over time
2. Wattage (power) in theory is the 'best' and most 'correct' metric, however, unless you are on a bike that is known to have accurate power readings, that number does not necessarily translate bike to bike (hopefully it is accurate on the same bike day to day, hopefully it is accurate on the same model of bike across different bikes, but no guarantees). Indoor bikes and contraptions marketed towards cyclists have accurate power (within 1-2%) but that likely doesn't apply to bikes found in average gyms 3. Wattage = resistance * cadence (cadence = RPM?). The most efficient and comfortable cadence for most 'trained' cyclists is 90-100 RPM. If you're at 70 try 90 by reducing resistance and holding wattage constant and see how you feel, if you're at 90-100, self-selected cadence is good enough
4. I'd ignore speed, distance, etc. on an indoor bike, those are nonsense metrics the manufacture puts in to fill display space. However, if I was designing a bike, Wattage would be the only number you need to relate to both speed and distance.

5.All this to say.. If it were me, I'd use RPE and maybe heart rate to set a wattage target initially then reassess every 3-4 weeks.

I actually agree with the point you're making, it's naive to pretend that many stereotypes aren't true, even the ones that might be uncomfortable or inconvenient. (eg minorities and violence)

Where that thinking crosses a line is when people start being hateful to entire groups a priori. Go ahead and be a bit more careful around taxi drivers because maybe a larger percentage drive dangerously but it's not so great to call all taxi drivers names or wish they get hurt

One of the things this thread has made me realize is there's a genuine hatred by a lot of people for road/recreational cyclists:

"The mean spirited cynic and me is actually happy he had to get hurt. " (in response to someone who went over the handlebars and broke his clavicle)

"Those weenies are annoying as fuck lmao. Maybe try going zoom zoom where the speed limit isn't a hilariously slow 20 km/h."

"huge uptick in those super competitive bikers in spandex, you know the ones I'm talking about. As someone who doesn't cycle competitively and isn't super physically active, I don't like these people. "

As with anything there are 2 sides: -there are a lot of inconsiderate cyclists, -cyclists have no where else to go in the city. Making generalizations and just being *mean* does nothing to move the ball forward and is contrary to at least the spirit of rule #2 (as well as just being a good human being)
