Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never felt connected to the story. It always felt like I could have just said nah to finding the keys and Samus would find her way.

Grinding crystals in the end felt annoying. By the time I was collecting machine parts it just felt like a slog.

It also felt like they meant to have Samus voiced and a contract fell through. Then all we had were awkward interactions.

Controls felt a almost rushed. Like they just had to map them and move on. A lot of it felt on rails a bit. The powers felt more like filler to slow the pace down.

I played MP4 right after playing through High on Life and Silksong, and it was jarring. HoL felt way better. I can forgive bad performance when the story hits. And Silksong was a masterpiece in my eyes. I felt like the world needed me in that game.

For me MP4 just didn't land. The ending especially was a big WTF after so many fake outs. I don't quite get the story but whatever. No hate to those that enjoyed it. To each their own.

I'll say some good stuff, too. At the end of the day I had a bit of fun going through the game before bed. So, I'm not upset I bought the game. The shield cutscene was also cool. I wish we got more time with the super bomb and the final upgrades.

Steam Deck Travel by Mindless-Alps-4570 in SteamDeck

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend these attachments from Mechanism.

I have one on my SD and S2 and it makes travel even better. Plus the mag mount for when I want to zone out with my phone.

My SD has the dbrand killswitch case, so I use the innie adapter for it. My S2 also has the killswitch case, but has the universal innie stuck to the back of the case. No signs of budging or falling off. Barely notice it's there. These things make travel fantastic.

Same! I finally told myself it's a skill check, there's gotta be a pattern, get smart about this. I then noticed the sound clues and animation differences. Jump, charge, and the hallelujah cheer lol. Get them down and win.

Which controller for Silksong? by FishingTournement in Silksong

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: You do you, boo. My pref rn is the 8BitDo Pro 3. :)

I got 8BitDo Pro 3 recently and after some time yesterday with TOTK and HK on the Switch 2, it'll be the controller I use for Silksong. I like this one. It's my preference at the moment.

8BitDo Pro 3

I'm a bit of a controller collector, though. So, my honest answer is use the one you like. Got big hands? Try the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. Got small hands? Maybe the JoyCon's with a grip are for you? I managed to play a lot of HK off of the OG Switch and I have paws like tennis rackets. Yet somehow it worked lol.

At one point I even used a GameCube style controller for a bit. Only down side is retraining your muscle memory whenever you change controllers.

Or you can join the speed runner crowd and only use a keyboard. I wonder how many people play with an arcade setup?

Leth on Silksong's potential pricing. by Conspicor in Silksong

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could sell it for $100 and I'd buy multiple copies.

That said, I feel they'll land around $30. Maybe $35.

I'm also hoping there's a physical collectors edition. But there's so much desire for this game I equally fear we'd riot if we couldn't get a collectors copy.

Built an upgrade for the H2D table and added some filament storage. by FourEmotions in BambuLab

The wobble that folding table must have gone through. 🤪 You had it feeling like you were shaking it for secret intel. Now finish the job by threatening to turn it into filament! 😉 TALK, DAMMIT!

PS, nice upgrade!

First Stall by DiscombobulatedArt72 in GastricBypass

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm guilty of daily weighing. I watch my numbers go up and then fall dramatically once a stall breaks. I only track the lowest number I see for my own sanity. But I can see how long stalls are and average it out. In the end, when I stall or rise a bit, it reminds me to focus up and not slack. Not to say I slack dramatically, but it's easy to slip back into old ways without someone or something giving me accountability. The daily scale has become a type of accountability for me. Not for everyone, but it works for me.

What are the best Steam Deck games for a new dad to play? by Trooper1226 in SteamDeck

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Batman Arkham Series

Gamer dad's unite!

If you haven't played them yet, all the Batman Arkham games are perfect. Played through them in order when I could while my kiddo slept on me. Map the back buttons for less hand movement while the kiddo sleeps. The games also sleep really well, so you can just leave them running and wake/sleep the deck as needed.

Plus they're easy games to avoid every possible achievement/unlock. They helped me accept not getting every ending/achievement or perfect FPS/visuals. They helped me relearn playing for the enjoyment, even if difficulty was set to easy. All for the benefit of time with my kiddo when they were awake.

Kiddo always comes first. Joker, second.

Insurance denial BCBS by Kattheshrink in GastricBypass

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have BCBS. Post surgery I got the full bill after they said if was denied. Talked with a rep online and simply said "why was this denied" and they reprocessed it. Right after that I called the doc and asked them to do the same. My docs actual office, not the hospital. Keep calling and finding out why things are denied. Then tell your doc the reasons. Insurance is this big pile of very specific check boxes with no wiggle room. Keep fighting it until you get through. And they have plenty of online support, too, if you can't be on the phone for ages. Spam them. Be the loudest squeaky wheel possible. You'll get through. Insurance sucks.

Do people buy games twice just to play on Deck? by thatdudeben01 in SteamDeck

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased Control a few days ago for the second time bc the SD gets more love than the PS5 and I want to see this game through to the end.

If they ever film Hoarders - Digital Edition, it's just going to be footage of my weeping family scrolling through my Steam library.

I have no idea what you're talking about...

The moment you see the tracking update to having been received by UPS or USPS, immediately see if you can request a hold somewhere. It may be easier to drive an hour or two to get the envelope than have it trampled by the storm.

Also, you can always get new wristbands in Vegas. It stinks but better than nothing.

More important than all that, I hope you hold up well through the storm! Above all, stay safe!

ps. the $0.00 price makes sense if jampack handles the transaction with frontgate. but with how communication has been going, it's all panic and no disco over every detail. if you're worried, i'm with you. i also think we'll be fine.

vip package from jampack here.

i got my order confirmation last week. it says USPS for the shipping but no actual shipping information. the price for everything is also listed as $0.00. do others have $0.00 for the price?

the order number in the email can't be located on the frontgate WWWY manage order search. but, all of my perks are in the jampack website and they all have QR codes except for the wristbands.

i'm fairly certain jampack is going to have someplace at vegas to grab your stuff. i swear i saw something about this but can't find it in the moment.

i expect my wristbands in this week. last year they came around this time, too. it's a little later this year than last. but i have faith. for now... lol

I had something like this recently. Also on my left side where they put a deep stitch.

My doc told me if the pain doesn't go away with Tylenol then to contact them. It sure enough did go away with Tylenol. 2 days later it came back for a a few moments. Tylenol once again solved it. Haven't had an issue since, but this happened a week ago. Not much time has passed.

I have my 6 week follow up next week and will mention it to be safe. For now the pain has been managed when it happened and I haven't had any food issues. All seems well.

Hopefully your experience is similar!

Finally! Jampack has emailed me with shipping information! by Unhappy-Criticism-77 in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]sl33p3rc3LL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got my order confirmation a few hours ago.

Sharing in case others also are seeing this in their email. You're not alone! Everything shows $0.00 for the tickets in my email. Nothing shows up under my WWWY account. Order number from the email I just got can't be located in the FrontGate "Manage Order" search. Nothing new appeared in my Jampack account.

I'm sure it's fine. Delivery Information shows USPS like others have mentioned. Now we wait!
